You have to install the VB runtimes before you can run it, as it says clearly in many places. |

Gohanssj8, just a question: Where did you download WinMPQ? |

Wc3Campaigns, why? |

This is part of why SF doesn't let people mirror her downloads without asking her, as with most people, and as with most people, sites like wc3c ignore that. |

No JollyOven, that's not true (the host it on their own server). But that's what I wanted to hear. WC3Campaigns doesn't say that you need the runtimes. Then they wonder that there are quite many people having problems using WinMPQ. In my opionion WinMPQ has to work on 99,9 % of all systems, which are not completely misconfigured. |

As her site has not gone done, I would say that the last sentence says it all. Even if WC3C was doing everything else correctly, they are still not respecting the wishes of the author. |

I agree with you in that point. But the point is that there are many useres who download WinMPQ here without the runtimes and then they can't run it. If they downloaded it at her homepage, everything would be fine, as it says there Required Files. |

lets not fight over something as so dumb, so wut, they aren't require to put anything under as required files |
| 04-11-2003, 09:12 PM | #13 |
Yeah, they aren't required to put anything under required files, but they are required to not have the dl mirrored :P I wouldn't say this is fighting as much as a pointless convo whose purpose has been achived already. |

In my opinion someone should make clear to them thatif they host it, they should say what you need. |

Another reason I don't like people putting up copies of my files up for download is that a lot of times they are not updated very often. This causes there to be a lot of older versions floating around everywhere. Sometimes I get e-mails about bugs existing in older versions that do not exist in the newest versions. The only reason anyone should ever have an older version is if the newest one is buggy. ;) Yet another reason I don't like people doing that: if someone downloads it from another site, it takes away from my own download counts. |
