Hi! I'm interested in which slk/txt files are modifyable and which ones that doesn't have any effect. At the tutorials section it says -Abilitydata.slk and Miscdata.txt doesn't have any effect, does that mean the rest do? |

I think you missunderstood something. All files have effects. But some don't have any effect if you implement them into maps. But the thing with AbilityData.slk is an old tutorial for the W3 beta (about one year old). |

What I meant was which files have any effect when added to the w3m. I know some doesn't since they are preloaded instead of reloaded when opening the map in warcraft 3. I still want to know which files are preloaded. Does anyone know? Quote:

Yes, actually you can add AbilityData.slk so that it has effects to the game. Some time ago I made a mad blizzard spell (about 100 shards...) through implementing AbilityData.slk into a mpa. The only file I know that doesn't work is Units\MiscData.txt (which would be quite cool as it stores the hero level cap). |

There are two miscdata files (one in the UI directory, one in the Units directory). Neither will implant into a map successfully. In addition, many files related to the user interface will not implant. Also, I believe fdf files (which "draw" the various interface elements (the dialogue box size and posiition, for example) aren't able to implant. Edit: splats and splats/ubersplat.slk are fully implantable - my apologies for suggesting otherwise. |

FDF is obvious, as they need to be preloaded for the mainmenu (yes, I know that the quest menu for example is also a FDF). For MiscData.txt it's always necessary to state which one is meant (Units\MiscData.txt or UI\MiscData.txt). I think I will update the FAQ with a list of files, which don't have any effect if implemented into a map. |
