Spell Trouble, are you really surprised?

Hi, Daishi of Death's spell editor didn't work for me, and i don't have excel. I recently downloaded Redscull's spell editor and tried it out (by the way it's WAY user friendly).

So i edit about 15 abilities and implant them. At first they didn't show up at all, then i went back and found a bunch of bugs and fixed them. Now when i play it, they all show up and all work but they have the "no-tool-tip" problem with that cool grinning samwise dude and also the animation for the abilities is screwy.

If ANY of my abilities were messed up in the least would that cause this problem for all of them, or just that individual ability?

The editor does lots of stuff automatically including putting all the text string and function data in one place and does the new aliases automatically so i don't think that's the problem.

What could it be? Thanks a lot.

create a new map (empty) and retry. Custom loading screen and some minimap options cause these issues ;)

exN i luv you so much, i can't even tell you!

I made a test map, and the abilities WORK BETTER THAN BEFORE...that is to say...all the icons show up and you can read the descriptions now.

There are of course other problems...

I used the mortar team icon for one ability, and when the map very first loads i clicked on the hero and saw it for a split second and then it turned bright green. Kinda dis-heartening. This icon is out of regular warcraft so i kinda confused as to why it's messing up.

Another problem: I have some abilities that normally require researching (bloodlust, abom disease cloud, etc.)

I removed the required stuff in the editor and yet it still says that it needs to be researched and won't let me cast it. What's to be done about that? thanks a lot.

icons are 64*64 blp and often go by couple : normal one and disabled one. Prefix are BTNmyicon.blp and DISBTNmyicon.blp little more info here :http://membres.lycos.fr/djorund/viewtopic.php?t=25

mmm you should check checkDep field in slk, but I don't know if Redscull editor handle this field has you don't have excel...

Redscull's editor currently hides the CheckDep field from the user. The Req fields you see on the F9 screen only affect if the user sees the requirements in the tooltip. They don't affect the actual needing of the research.

If you want a version of bloodlust that doesn't require the research, base your bloodlust off the neutral hostile version (which has the checkdep set to 0 already).

If I wasn't irritated that the b.net forum mods think Excel is easier to use than my all-in-one editor, I might release a version that allowed the user to easily check/uncheck the CheckDep field (sorry, that was actually just an oversight originally).

I'm happy to know that some people are finding the editor to their liking. I never made it to be famous. I made it firstly to help myself, and secondly to help everyone else.

thanks redscull, and if i may, I'd like to advertise for you. Cuz your editor just plain ROCKS! Like, it's so damn ez to use and it is all in one and it's nice nice nice.

(ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNMortarTeam.blp)

it wasn't disabled or anything. does the green thing happen when the button is disabled or what?

EDIT:

hehe, i lied. *Actually* the button I'm trying to use is

"ReplaceableTextures\PassiveButtons\BTNUnloadDwarf.blp"

it shows up when i hit F10 and get the menu by the way.

well if it is a passivebutton u will need to make it a command button. it is easy to be done. just change path to ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons \BTNUnloadDwarf

I changed the path and (wonder of wonders!) it works now.

Also i changed things the needed research to be based off creep abilities and now they work too.

What's the moral of this story? I rule...! err....better yet: rescull's editor OWNS and people on this forum kick a$$.
