I havent dled, but I've seen pictures.

You have to actually make the terrain look REAL! Use doodads and other landscapes, and dont even try to make the terrain only dirt, that is pointless.

I too was (still am working on it, but need my new comp back) working on a Helm's Deep singleplayer map that people liked. Try making the terrain look more realistic, I'll post pics for reference. This should probably be in Map Development.

If you can train units that throws it into the unrealistic category. I'm not saying dont do it, I'm just saying, try to think up an alternative method.

In the singleplayer version I was workong on, the amount of units you started with was what you got. The only way you would get more was if you equipped a peasant through the armory. But doing this provided only a cheap soldier, and increased your chances of losing since you would lose if you lost all your peasants.

Try to be crative in your methods, unless you have already done something similar, I have yet to download the map.

What did you do for the training/creating method?

What i was plaaning on doing is limit everyone to a certain amount of units of each type. like they can create 40 swordman 20 spearmen and so on and so on. like a garrison depot where the units are free but you can only have so many at once. giving each player more flexibility and reducing lag on the map

thank you for your opinion but, im creating this map because i have wanted to for a long time and i finally decided to learn how to make maps. its something i wanted to do and considering the boring massing repeptive style of every other helms deep ive seen im trying to create something new and actully interesting. ive wanted to make it as fun and complicated strategy as i could.

I won't close this thread so that Reborngod can continue to get help and comments, but I am deleting the useless flame by SCVirus. Let me know if he does more of the same.

BTW: Tearsong... AWESOME work on that terrain! Thanks for the ideas... now I have to go edit all my maps! emote_sweat

i currently finished version 4.0 of my map ive added total of 10 units to both sides and from my testing and the games ive played they are pretty balanced. here is the current version of the map

ive worked really hard on terraining and adding doodads and so on, i also pathed the entire map to avoid scaling up those mountains. added short intro cinema not awesome but ok
