Ideas needed

A friend and I are starting a new race mod of our own. We have a lot of the ideas hammered out, but we need more. If you have any ideas for any of our four races (Goblins, The Earth Mother, The Black Forest, and Nerubians), please tell me.

Goblins - Obviously, the technology race. Generally will have high attacks and armor, but be physically weak. (They are very small)

The Earth Mother - A race of tauren and natural disasters. Tauren units are very durable, but very slow. Disasters are weak, but cheap and have high attacks.

The Black Forest - A race all about stealth and speed. Huorns, Satyrs, and Werewolves fight against the forces of good. Many are invisible, or have other methods of getting around unimpeded.

Nerubians - A race of spider people, based on slightly weaker units, in slightly greater quantities. Nearly everything about the nerubians will be expendable, and many of their units have particularly high armor.


Thanks for any help I get. Excited to see what you can think up for us. The majority of the help we need is in the Black Forest, but the other three races all need it, too. (We also will be needed help creating these races in about a week or two)
(Of course, there are going to be exceptions to these rules...)

#1 get rid of nerubians or no one will play. msot modders tried that when they were newbs your just a year late. your other ideas are ok but be realistic this is going to take a ton of work(if you want anyone to play it). if you just use the current models and skins no one will play youll have to make your own animate current ones for gathering lumber/gold add flying units entirely created by you ect.. and its very unlikly many people will help unless you do something to set yourself apart from the other newbie mods.your idea is acually good it is better then msot newbie ideas and coulkd easily acually be made. but as i said this is 20x more work then you probably think and youll have to do alot yourself before you even get help. i dont like to repeat myself but this will save you alot of flaming.

DONT JUST USE THE CURRENT CREEPS.

Excuse me, Sir, but we have already begun this. It is not 20X more work than we think. ( I am the partner TiJiL spoke of) We know exactly how much work it will be. Now, to combat your "newbie" thing, let me give you a list of some of the things nerubians will ( AND ALREADY CAN IN THE DRAFT) do...


Larvae: Much like the zerg, the nerubians will have larvae that mutate into units. We are not sure if we want thier heroes to mutate back into being when reviving or not yet.

Webs: Blight is being reskinned to look like webs... In addition, we are thinking of changing the green gas to look like little spiders running around.

Egg Bomb: This skill will be a small bomb that will go off in 5 seconds, releasing a spider, and any unit killed by it will become a spider.


Just a few things they can do. Also, the Earth Mother is thusfar extremely cool. Fireballs, Tauren, Thunderstorms, and Twisters. Need I say more?

Well, thank you for your condescending advice, SCVirus. As BHAV said, we know quite well how much work it is. We also know about the redoing models. We are working on a few, ourselves, but we were hoping to recruit people who could aid us in this respect, too. And as for the creep thing, we won't. They will not be utmost priority, but they will be augmented and replaced for the most part, too.

ok nm your not the regular newbie ,of you see every 5 minutes a newbie posts there idea for a new race mod, it always is something like this

me and a friend are working on are own new race mod

these are race

nerubians
trolls
(insert 2 more creep races here)

then someone flames them or tells them to give up.

you can see the similarities

and people have done what you say already i did for example just a nerubian race with some (in the modders opinion) fun additions models and skins are what set apart apart.

If you are trying to make a map this is the worng site
If you are trying to make a mod then youll need models and skins


i dont care whether you listen to my advice but ive been at this site a while very very rarely does an idea acually happen if you know the amount of work it will be to make this good then you must understand. the thing that sets them apart is the good ones noramlly start with new models and skins. then people think wow they got all the modelling/skinning done and join.

TiJiL is an excellent modeler/skinner. We plan to have many many new models and skins. Obviously, help in this field would be appreciated. By the way, the point here is not for you to yell at our idea. We are trying to recruit help.

Thanks for the more specific help, SCVirus. We will have a good number of skins and models (we hope) before we go any further. Need quite a few Nerubian buildings, so they're high priority.

Heh heh... Well.... This thread has sort of gone in a different direction than it was intended to. Back on track now. Does anyone have any ideas?

Ok. It seems we need some enticing. This is some of what I have done with the earth mother WITHOUT new models and skins, just mucho triggering.

(For the Earth Mother, if we do elemental things, they will not be humanoid in shape. They will be taurenoid.)
