But the new race mod has custom loading screens right?

If you replaced the files in the war3.mpq, it would work (unless there were newer files in the war3patch.mpq). Even more curious to know if it works if you implant the files into the map.

Hmmz.. emote_confused

I belive you cant change anything in the "war3.mpq"..

I mean you cant change anything and still the wc3 work

Someone correct me on this?

Arriba!
Put the file in the patch.mpq. It will always look there first. And I'm pretty certain Kami is right

And It doesn't work if you implant it into a map.

Ok, since all the answers seem a little hazey I'll confirm what is said...

Yes, the blps work perfectly fine if you stick them in the mpq. It's nothing new and it's been done before. And yes, if you stick the files in the patch.mpq they will default to that rather then your war3.mpq, but you can still put files in the old war3.mpq and still have changes. How else do you think people edited things with Warcraft 3 version 1.00 when there weren't any patches? :P

And finally, the loading screen images will in no way load from a map. If you want a custom loading screen you absolutely must have the mpq for it to work.

What i thought was that the only way getting anything work with the map was putting it in the map..

How the hell can they get the Loading screen if it is in the mpq file?

When anyone dl you map on public games on b-net they dl the map not any file in the mpq.. if it is in the mpq it will only work on your computer?.. im i right?

Of course can you change the loading screen in the mpq but it will only work on your computer..

:ggani: i cant say anything for sure but anything else sounds strange? :ggani:

That is correct. Changing files in the mpq will work, but only on your computer. Some files just won't work when imported into a map (like miscdata.txt).

This doesn't mean it's not usefull. Since a campaign is single player, you can customize a lot more than you can with a multiplayer bnet map.

i knew it wouldnt work just importing the file into the map...I am going to try and replace the original credits Loading screen...But i still dont get if it would work on singe player campaigns or not...because if my comp is the only comp that has the custom credits loading screen in the war3.mpq, and since the map mpq files dont carry that info that means when any other computer reads the map it will still bring up the original credits loading screen...I want to screw around with it and see what i can do... like what KaMi- said

But then u would still be the only one to be able to see it because its only in your mpq and it wouldnt be in the person who's playing it mpq file unless there on your computer

Demanufacture: You need to have the mpq given out *with* the single player map obviously. That is, bundle the mpq and maps up into a zip along with a readme file telling the people who download your campaign to backup their old mpq and then replace it with your one. When they want to stop they can just put the old mpq back. I think there may be a 3rd party program that can automate the process so people don't have to keep switching their mpqs around but I haven't looked that hard.

DS-Orkhomie: Refer to the above :).

Yeah, this has been tried before, even by myself. I'm hoping with TFT retail they will give something out that you can modify loading screens. They already added support for MiscMetaData.slk (Previously MiscData.txt) so let's just hope that it is being done, but not announced yet.

...that would be awsome if there was...i would fro sure do it then...but to have people go and change there mpq files for 1 campaign...and let alon it would be for about 10 seconds that would see this picture on the loading screen...i dont think it is worth it...but i am going to try and find that automate thing or maybe try and create 1....hopefully TFT will allow u to edit loading screens...that would be kicka$$..
