Well, I edited UnitAckSounds.slk with Excel and saved it. I tried the directory emulation thing, and I tried putting it in the war3patch.mpq, and all it ends up doing is making the units whose sounds I changed completely silent. It must not be where I'm putting it, because of the silence thing, but how or what I'm changing. Anyone with experience in this know what I'm talking about? For instance, I copied the dragon's sounds to another unit. Any help would be appreciated. |

Guest | Not an answer to your prayers, just a quick related comment You're lucky. I can't seem to get the .slk to go inside the MPQ. |

Weird....are you using WinMPQ to put it in? And anyone know the answer to my question? |

Guest | Ok here's my theory... I've been having issues getting custom upgrades to work, the probelm seems to be that only the World Edior reads the .slk files.. the game itself will only read .txt files. That means that, somewhere (I hope), there is a .txt file that contains similar setting information as the .slk files. Once modified in the .txt file I would imagine things would work. |

The WE will read files from directory emulation, but the game not. You have to add them to the mpq. And upgradedata.slk is one of the files that evene if you add it to a w3m, the game will ignore it. You gotta add upgradedata.slk to the MPQ. |

Guest | Forgive my ignorance, but what MPQ does it need to be added to? |

war3patch.mpq Add all custom stuff to war3patch if it can't go into maps. And be sure to back up the original mpq and make a copy of your modified one so you can export and reimport your files into the fresh war3patch.mpq that comes with updates. |
