I am working on a Sims map for WarCraft III. I plan on doing most of the work myself, but if you have any suggestions for my map, feel free to post here. I already have the basic idea down but some ideas for cool furniture I could make would be nice. I'm not doing models or skins so hopefully it is something that I can do with the units models available. If you would like to help, please PM me. I could especially use help on dialogs. |

The Sims is one of the worst games I have ever played. |

Sorry Dinadan, but I have to agree with HelpMe here. Not only is the game terrible, but it would be nearly impossible to do without a very skilled team on warcraft 3. This is my opinion, you have the right to your own but if you haven't already started on this map, I would have to say to go for another idea. |

The Sims is one of the most addictive games I've played, but like all games, it appeals to some and not to others. Those that liked it played it to bits, those that hated it boycotted anything that had to do with it. I love The Sims and I think it's a wonderful idea. When I was playing it I couldn't stop and sometimes forgot meals. Don't worry about it, I would love to help but my skills with WE are limited and I am busy with my own stuff. Try posting this on other forums too to see if you can get pple to help. When the beta version comes out I've love to be the first to test it :ggani: |

Id have to agree with him, but I want you to keep the basic Idea of sims, Sims was an OK game, but it was pointless and went nowhere, you should make a game like the real life thing, only with sims things incorporated into it such as expanding your house, buying better furniture, moving up in life, but you should add some sort of goal... Like for each job you could get you try to become the highest rank, then you have to accomplish some Crazy task and u win, and ppl would keep playing to beat each job, as long as you kept the things they did Diverse and interesting, but, with these crazy mingame job things(Dont make the jobs just mindlessly killing things PLEASE) you also haev to keep your sim happy, and fed and things, and the player should always have something on their agenda There you go... thats what you should do in my opinion, just suggestions tho, take what you thinks sounds good if u want, Bye |

People play games to get away from reality... Game companies who try to make " real life " out of games are just plain.... aiming for bankruptcy... If I want to reach a higher rank in my job I will do it IRL ( In Real Life ) not in some pointless game..... And if you want a game to play online like the sims.... just go play the sims.... ZzZZzz P.S. My little brother is openly gay and he plays The Sims, honest to God. He plays a straight guy in it.... so I guess he's exploring both worlds at one time hehehe. emote_sweat |

Are you crazy? the Sims has sold more copies than any game, EVER. its at like 7 million not counting expansions. And i thought it was cool until the second expansion, then it got gay. |

Ok listen up. You guys are entitle to your own opinion and I will respect that. But please don't use this as a place to talk about whether the game sucked or if it was good. If you don't like the idea of me making a sims map, then simply don't support it. I am already perfectly aware that many people do not like The Sims so there is no need to bring my attention to that fact. Please try to keep things on topic. This post is about the map I am making, not the game the map is based off of. I already have the basic idea for the game, and I will go ahead and say that this map is going to be a LOT like the PC game. It's hardly going to be anything like those Real Life games (pretty crappy in my opinion) in many ways. You will actually get furniture, and you will be able to build your own house. Getting jobs and promotions will be much more in-depth, it will have the same 8 needs from the original game, and you will also be able to build your sims relationship with other players, as well as some NPC sims which you can possibly marry or ask them to move in to get more Sims to control and also get kids. The Real Life map is pretty much a waste of time, because there is no goal or ANY kind whatsoever. While I'm leaving my map mostly open ended, so the player can try to achieve what they want to achieve, the game will have several things to achieve (keeping your Sim happy, building a dream house, getting the best job, etc.) It's a pretty big surprise you can even see Real Life maps hosted on bnet since they are so bad, but if that game can live on bnet, I can definatly see some potential for my game. Now let me say some thing about the game. As I've been saying, it's going to have gameplay similar to the PC game (not the expansions like Hot Date, Vacation, and such, just the game basics). The game will have a unique interface. Rather than having to look at a certain area of the map, or use some chat command to check your needs, all 8 needs are displayed on the bottom of the screen while your sim is selected. The sim acts as a zeppelin carrying around 8 units as the needs, all which have negative health regeneration of some degree, and the units are healed by triggers during certain evets (such as eating food). The needs also have nice icons that represent the needs (i.e. Cannibalize represents your Hunger need). Checking your relationships is pretty easy too. Any time you click on a player or certain NPCs, it will tell you your relationship with that sim, but if the sim you want to check your relationship is not nearby, you can access the game menu with ESC and push relationships to view the status of all your relationships. The game menu also contains buttons to check your job level, hours, and wages, as well as your skills. There will be many great furniture items. Instead of just walking up to them to use them, you will have to click on them to get a menu of actions. If you are not close to the item you may not be able to use it though but some items, like TV, can be used from a certain distance. There are even some complicated items, such as the telephone which opens a menu to allow you to select an NPC to invite over (players can come over without an invitation) as well as services such as maid, gardener, repairs, pizza, etc. This map has many good features and should be nearly as good a game as the actual PC game (and maybe even funner since it will be multipalyer) (Well, The Sims Online is multiplayer, but you have to pay a monthly fee )Please tell me what you think of my ideas (and not saying it's bad just because it's based on a game you think is crappy). Also contact me if you would like to help out, although I should be handle this on my own mostly. |

I personaly like the idea. However I hope you fully grasp the amount of work nessecary to create a god game of this scale. Month's of work at least. However if you can manage this then I say bulie to you. My only suggestions is to make it more like sims would be during the meddle ages. I suggest you revolve it around the warcraft world. Where you can have jobs like knight, gaurdsmen, farmer, blacksmith, thief, ranger, etc... By trying to copy sims modernday theme you will be greatly limiting yourself. With a warcraft theme all your furniture etc is already realistic looking and the characters could be elves, orcs, humans and more. However this is your map and I am but one mind. Whatever you decide I hope it works for you and good luck. |

Also, should you decide to go medieval then I will gladly provide whatever help you may want. Except for maybe terrain because thats my downfall. I tend to make things to symetrical. |
