Here are my first 4 skins that I've ever done. See what you think, I know they're not all that good, but take a look anyway

1. Dwarven miner

2. Dwarven Brute

3. Goblin

4. Human Swordsman

So what do you think, does anyone want to use them?

The only one that isn't a cut and paste or a recolor is the 4th and it looks weird. The upper part of his head is differently colores from the rest. And this has been tryed a looooooot of times...

The miner looks cnp-ed...and come on the goblin is JUST A RECOLOR, nothing special...so is the blademaster looks screwed up...paladin also seems cnp...

Dont just c'n'p' your skins or recolor them, that way they are MENT to suck!!
Start from scratch on the parts you wana modify...

total ratings:
2/10

I can understand why some skinners find it irritating to see c+p's or recolors, but for a first time skinner, simply toying with what is already there is a good way to achieve high(ish) standards of skin. I have done complete skin conversions, but because I am not an artist and am inexperienced, I will not put them up. What I'm saying is, give us starters a bit of a break when it comes to recolors and c+p's, cos you were there to once. Thanks for the comments, but when you read a thread and someone has already mentioned the negative aspect of the skin you were going to talk about, try and think of something else.

OK, enough preaching, here's the goblin skin, it's called toiler cos it's the mining unit for a new race i'm creating. Enjoy!

Well, dude its not me you should be mad at...you should be mad at ppl that gave coments like:

Quote:
dude that goblin is awesome

^ spam, nothing constructive

^spam again and nothing constructive again...

I gave you constructive criticism and instead of trying to do what ive sed you 'flame' me (well wasnt really flame but...gah, you get the point...)

The point is: you will NEVER be a good skinner if you recolor and c'n'p' stuff...and no, not really everyone made theyre first skins recolors and cnp's

What im saying is try to completly color in gray-scale the part of the skin you wish to modify, and use the burn and dodge tool to create the texture....then you recolor it, for example: you made a texture that looks like letter, you recolor it brown, you made a texture for a face, you recolor it with the color that suits YOUR face the best...

Anyway, if you wana folow my crits fine, if not then just be glad that ppl spamed your thread with coments like 'awesome dude!:...

hey, I fully understand what you're saying, and it wasn't a dig at you, you made a good point, I was just stopping people from saying what you'd already said. I naturaly not gonna complain if people say it's good, but you're right, they should try and make a point, not just say it's great. I didn't mean to offend you, I value your oppinion. I'm sorry, what ya say? No hard feelings?

I'll take on board what you said in your last post and try to redo my skins, cos practise makes perfect eh?

The problem is that you really shouldn't post recolors or c'n'p. I never posted my OMG PINK ORK!!! (well I did, but that's because a bunch of people were bothering me about it, but I posted it in an OMG BLAK ORK!!! post)

Don't post your recolors if you don't want to be flamed.

sure, won't happen again, and thanks for explaining it. I have listened to your advice and am now skinning (properly) a bandit, just cos it seemed like a fairly easy layout. I'll post that up when I'm finished, it may not be pretty, but at least it'll be my own. I didn't mean to seem like a total jerk before, sorry everyone.
