Guest | Greetings, After reading this Tutorial I wanted to modify AbilityData.slk and use it in my own map. So I did - I did it just the way described (added a wave file before editing the w3m via mpq2k) and by now the file is in the w3m. Problem: War3 seems to ignore the file. It just does use the old abilitydata.slk. Any help would be...uh....helpful :) CyA, Z |

First of all, when wc3beta first came out.. SLKs cannot be implanted up to now! But there are certain ways, ideas popping out recently. Look at Cookie's Tutorial regarding the IMP Genarator. LINKAGE: http://www.wc3campaigns.com/modules....+for+Blackdick Ur one lucky guy, since this is the first tutorial ever made. There wasnt any chance on adding an slk in the w3m back then.... |

Even if you add AbilityData.slk to the map, it won't work, coz it is some of the slks that will not work using the map-embbed trick. |

Guest | Thanks for your replies. Due to this fact, total conversions will have to be with a war3patch.mpq, uh? thus this is not legal afaik, blizz will hopefully implement possibilities to embed miscdata.txt and abilitydata.slk... |

Guest | Has anyone already started a petition? :) |

I dunno about the petition thing but about the rumor: I've seen things in game.dll that shows they'll implement campaign support. Also, there is a command line parameter called "-datadir" which leads me to think they' ll soon be a way to load extra MPQ without touching war3patch.mpq. But who knows, it's still a rumor... |

Guest | It is just so sad, that you can see what immensive mod-potential lies within warcraft 3... Hopefully blizz just has to change a byte, and not main parts of the source. |
