Guest | I contacted on MacRadio Chat Room on AIM/AOL miss Omaha, co-host of MacRadio asking if they interview Modding sites besides Game Companies. The idea was to find out to relay the information to 3DGuy to prepare and get interviewed concerning the WC3Campaigns petition to Blizzard Entertainment. Later I invited Digi and Azumarril into the chat room to interact with both Mac Radio hosts. Last week, MacRadio.com interviewed Bill Roper concerning their new projects and about Blizzard's history since its beginnings back in 1991. I approached them knowing that this interview took place as an opportunity to get the Mac audience to know about this petition. To my surprise, co-host Ms. Omaha Sternberg and Sean Smith started talking live on radio about WC3Campaigns petition to Blizzard. You may download the radio transmission file from http://www.macradio.com:16080/monday...2003_04_28.mov Download it, I suggest. Then if your player has a timeline by seconds, drag the slider to minute 45:38 when they start talking about WC3Campaigns petition. The comments toward the petition lasted 10 minutes from minute 45:38 to minute 55:20 of the radio transmission .MOV file You might require Apple Quicktime Player. Make sure to download the Windows version at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ In short, their Live discussion on radio was that petitions online carry almost zero impact in the decisions of companies to listen to what fans or customers wish. That the best way to have influence in a company to actually do something is when each of the guys who signed the petition actually write a real letter and mail it via post office to Blizzard's offices. Some samples were made in allusion to letters sent with the same copy over post mail and signed. That companies listen more if you write down the letter with your own reasons of why you consider it is better to do this and that and how it benefits you. A sample was made as well in which Star Trek was once cancelled and they received a million letters from many StarTrek fans organizations. The company heard them and StarTrek was aired once more based on the letters and the feedback sent. Blizzard Entertainment might or not take in consideration the petition online. Everyone can still sign the petition. No problem. But based on what the MacRadio hosts advices us is that it is wise to not just send the petitions. Do it. But also each of you who signed this online petition, take few minutes of your time. Write down a letter with a pen. Try to write nicely and understandable to a reader. Explain why you want this 3D maxstudio plugin. How as a modder it benefits you. If you arent a modder but you love mods from the different websites, support by writting a letter and say why you think that modders can benefit from this plugin and why you love the mods made by this sites. According to MacRadio folks, this is a more powerful means to demonstrate Blizzard Entertainment a genuine reason to do so. One thing they said is sometimes people signs just to support blindly. A physical letter if each has a custom and different message of why each customer wants something, gives more impact and weight to the message. I would say, sign the online petition, but also take your time to mail Blizzard by post office. It is just an envelope and a stamp and a piece of paper. Few minutes of your time to write it and throw it in at the mailbox. Send your letters to: George Wang Blizzard Entertainment P.O. Box 18979 Irvine, CA 92623 George Wang is a very nice gentleman, very friendly and always emails me back. George Wang is Blizzard Entertainment Public Relations Coordinator. With the influx of letters, he might read them and ring Bill Roper and the Development team concerning the modding community feelings. Please, write letters with a real reason to wish this mod tool from them and be nice and measured. Show a friendly attitude with no profanity or demanding things to be done. Be a gentleman and request things in a civilized way. We are addressing good people with good feelings same as ours. They may listen and consider what the community of modders need. They have no magic wand to know feedback from thousands of modders. They require your feedback to be able to take decisions that might benefit us and them in the long run. Thanks for your attention, MEDIEVALDRAGON Mac Users and PC users too, may listen to our folks at MacRadio.com interview Game Developers and Game companies and Mac related software and hardware of interest daily at http://www.macradio.com For those who missed, on April 21, Bill Roper's interview -- Blizzard Entertainment's Vice President, made by MacRadio last week, you may listen the long interview file HERE |

Thanks for the information. I plan actually to not only send them a printed copy of the petition, but I already intended to make additional posts urging those who signed the petition to send letters into Blizzard Entertainment. A bombardment of the fans, and those who support this petition sent to the Blizzard offices will help to show the strength of our cause. Due to the importance of this, I've added this post to our news. |
