Unit Editor (TD Map)

I was bored and I started to create my own TD map to pass the time. But now I have a problem...

The proplem is that I can only see 3 differnt towers in the build section even though I made eight. I based 7 of them off a Gaurd Tower and I was wondering, is that the problem? Do I have to rebase them on differnt buildings or what?

Base them all on a town hall to be able to see them all.

I'm having trouble. If it's the Undead, it creates the black stuff even if you don't have the town hall model. And if it's human, it has the cement stuff on the bottum, Night Elf has the vines stuff, Orc has the rocks. On top, all of them has a huge shadow, how can I fix this?

I think that requires some Model edditing...

sigh... doing things the hard way...

you just need to modify your towers' button positions

Let me try to bring this all together for you.

The tower is in one of the buttom row of buttons in the command card, if I remember correctly.

Which means the first tower gets the original button position. Since that tower is in that button position, the next tower that tries to take that position gets the next one to the right, instead.

All your towers are based on the same unit, therefore they all have the same button position. Therefore, when it gets to the last position on the command card, there's no room left for buttons, and effectively you can't build those towers.

Basing all the towers on a Town Hall will fix the problem, since the Town Hall is in the first button position. This means that there's lots of leftover room in the command card for the other towers to fill in.
However, it's not very attractive to do so because, as you've noticed, the towers get that ugly splat which is much bigger than the actual model.

It also has nothing to do with model editing whatsoever. Don't pay attention to that (sorry RantriX).

You can't (easily) alter the splat for any given building, so my advice to you is this.

Pick a unit for which you like the base splat (the black or brick or roots-ish image). Base all your towers off of that unit.
Then, with a little .w3m-editing magic, edit the <race>UnitFunc.txt file for the race of the building you picked, find that building, and change the Buttonpos= parameter to 0,0
Add the <race>UnitFunc.txt file to your map using WinMPQ or a similar editor, making sure you add it to the Units\ directory.

When you open your map in the game, it should show all your towers (up to 12) starting from the upper-left of the command card.
