Nub's tutorial and some SLK questions...

Firstly, i would like to congrat everyone who has madea a tutorial for this site, great job guys.

now for my questions. i am interested in removing the hero glow for the death night, but i dont know where to dit the hex file, how can i find this?

also, about SLK editing. what can i do with that?

A slk file is microsoft spreadsheet format, well at least i think ms came up with it, eitherway, you use excel to edit them.

In the UndeadArthas.mdx model, if you open it in a hex editor, you'll scroll down to a portion with text like units\Undead\EvilArthas\UndeadArthas.blp etc. Now, you should see a big field of ...'s beneath that until the next path, then another big field of ...'s. In those ... fileds if you look at the raw hex code you'll see 01000000 00000000 ...., you'll want to change 01000000 to 00000000 and then at the next 4-byte block, begin pasting the texture I mention in the tutorial, making sure to overwrite the amount of bytes I mentioned. Do this the same way to the next field of ...'s where you'll find an 02000000 in the raw hex. This will effectively remove hero glow.

To be more specific, for UndeadArthas.mdx the byte offsets for the RepleaceableID's you have edit are: 0x007DC and 0x009F4. MAKE SURE you don't just overwrite the id with the beginning of the text, you have to start the text in the NEXT 4-byte segment and overwrite an exact number of bytes equal to the characters in that texture path or else the byte count of the file is offset and everything will be in the wrong place.
