There is a new MPQ Editor from Ladislav Zezula available on his website www.zezula.net. I think you should know about that program. This MPQ Editor is very easily to install: Unpack it from the downloaded archive and start working. No extra files are needed. Additionally this one has got some professional features as well. |

When I used this editor, all of my icons on my desktop and in my folders disappeared and my computer completely bugged out. Is there any known major bugs that cause this? Fiery_Maelstrom |

I am using this one since some time and I haven't experienced any problems like this. Maybe it is just another problem and you think it is caused by MPQ Editor. If you resist that MPQ Editor must be the reason email a complete problem report to Ladik or post it here so that I can pass it on to him. |

It is probably my operating system ( Win98 ), so I won't press the issue. With work and all, I don't have the time :(. Well, thanks. I think I will stick to WinMPQ. Later, Fiery_Maelstrom PS: It is the MPQ Editor. I had the problem twice in a row while opening it, and I haven't opened it since adn I have never had the problem again. |

I found that this is problem of too-low version of MFC42.dll installed in your system. Earlier versions of this DLL corrupt the system image list (on 9x based systems), this is why your icons dissappeared. NT-based systems seem not to be affected by this bug, even if the version of MFC42.dll is low. To solve this problem, download the pack "C Runtime for windows" from Download section of http://www.zezula.net and unpack it to your MPQEditor directory. I fixed MPQ Editor that it now tests the version and shows a warning if the version of MFC42.dll is too low. The fixed version will be on my webpage in several hours. Ladik |
