It depends on if the game has 3d model or just sprites (2d drawing that looks 3s) like starcraft, all there units are just sprites, thats why the game runs prety smoothly, so, if the game is 3d, and the units are 3d models, then you have to find the model, and see if you can find any programs that will convert it to .3ds or any type importable file into milkshape then 3ds.

So im not promiseing anything but for C&C im not sure that games has 3d models, but i still dont know cuz ive never played :)

cnc generals uses 3d models, its new engine is well spiffy.

You can import there models into gmax and export them using a script back into game.

However warcraft 3 has moved slower than cnc generals in terms of modding probably because it has less fans dedicated to modding the game. Anywayz you can import them models into gmax then save them as 3ds then get them into 3dsm then export them so it could be possible

the issue is that C&C generals has their tools support ready to go after the beta was finished; their tools for making 3d models and implenting was released very early on from the developers, the developers really helped the community with support etc, information.

wc3 and blizzard did none of this, questions about the model format they dont even answer. we all had to start from 0, and deciphering it takes time, very long time. If blizzard did as westwood, (means supplying with tools ) it would had a better community. The slowdown of developping a exporter and importer took too long that the interest in wc3 died fast.

qua community support, I have to say that westwood won with a mile; there is a real interaction between developer and modder.

Blizzard just throws the door hard into our faces and let us duke it out. Fine with me, but this also means a mayor slowdown in developping mods etc, causing a dieing community
