New units..

Ok im not sure if this is the rite place to post this but im'a do it anyway.

I was planning on making new units for WC3, i was reading all the tutorials and such, thinking that it might not be as hard as i though.. but then i realised that i have none of these programs. I think a few i can download from this site, but for some reason the downloads section isn't working, a few of the others i have no idea where to find them. And to top it all off i need 3D Studio Max which is gonna cost too much. I could just get an illegaly copy of it from Kazaa, but i had just gone through my computer and deleted all the crap including kazaa itself so i didn't really want to start installing dodgy things again.

So it looks like im kinda stuck.

So if for now i can't make my own units.. maybe i can download units that other people have made? But i have not come accross any sites that have any new units available to download.

So im just one stuck noobie at a cross road here so if anyone would be kind enough to point me into the right direction i will be very gratefull.

I understand i have had many problems getting the files i need and getting the files to work. mainaly im trying to make new spells though for my new Hero Arena (Which i Need an Updated TFT WE for it and that i also cannot find).

I don't know many people who alter the 3d models of the units as this is very difficult and not working very good. I suggest to edit skins/stats/spells/upgrades, that's enough.

BTW, it is NOT allowed to talk about warez.

to make new units you need to go to the unit editor in the warcraft world editor. then you can click on the custom units icon and make one BUT it has to be based off an existing unit-- after you decided which unit to base your new unit off of you can then alter the attributes.


you can not download custom units.


for more help i suggest looking at tutorials or even just fooling around with WE for a little while.

You can UMSWE 3.6, which is available at www.umsmaps.com/files , which is an advanced WE, that allows you more than the normal WE. For example you can set the path to icons and models.
