1st Person Map! Yep.

Attached is a replay file to prove it.

I made a map where you can move your hero around first person, with forward backward rotate left and rotate right keys...
a hint how the keys work are that keypad 7,4,5,and 1 are the movement keys (yep, items activate the movement.) It is impossible to move the guy otherwise. The camera angle is placed right behind the necromancer, the hero.

This opens up various ways to make maps... maze maps? First Person Shooters?

I heard of a FPS mod so i hope im not to late in making this... but download the replay already.

I just thought of more stuff I might use this for... tell me your ideas on the subject.

I was thinking along the lines of a first person shooter arena... Two more spaces for buttons on the items part, so i could add an attack button (or just have it auto aim, which it naturally is, not auto aim would be making the guy attack ground in front of him with impale attributes), a special abilities button depending on the class of the unit you chose... necro with raise dead, paladin with inner fire, tauren with shockwave, and if I dont use my attack idea, and have it auto-aim, i'd make another special ability per character class. i could also have certain special abilites activated through typing messages.

so, tell me ideas on the subject... a maze type map, very similar to any other first person shooter sound fun? id have powerups everywhere of course.

sound like it might beat all the other hero arenas???

i think fps mod is using mouse controls and wdsa and /\\/<> movements now, so they are lightyears ahead sadly. and as for the replay... you do need to post the map otherwise its impossible to watch it...

Ok, here is an attachment with the map too then... i was wondering about that... If your wondering its also the first map in my campaign, without the sounds. The other map I'm making will use the same triggers but be hero arena based, and FPS solely. This map I plan to use the FPS mode only for certain parts of the mission.

Well, the FPS mod hopefully needs a whole file to patch, to do that. What would make mine unique from it would be that only the map file would be required. I can do all this with triggers.

If the FPS mod is just a map file, **** it then.
Otherwise I hope to make something that will spread very quickly through Bnet.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Suggestion: Try not to have many nooks and holes in the trees, I walked the necro into a small gap in the trees and got stuck because of the ghouls and stuff following.

Ok, nothing personal, but that is pretty crappy.

3rd person things have been done many times before, and are nothing new.

Using Items for movement is plain dumb. You dont even have a

The FPSMod isn't just a map file, but it's not really a big patch either. You just alt+tab and run an exe and you get mouselook and movement with the arrow keys.

I know movement with arrow keys in multiplayer can be done without their program because I've succesfully done it. However, I have yet to see anyone get mouselook working without it...

The only 2 possibilities i forsee is a right mouse click and mousescroll

the mousescroll detection event could be emulated with a Ditance to target of local player camera change

and right mouse click corresponds to the "smart" order given with no target


Thats all i know about it.
