In search of a good Trigger man for new AoS project

..someone that's good with triggers. Specificly somebody that can do custom enhanced spells good (not just some nitwit with a spelleditor) :P. Someone that's dedicated. Someone that knows JASS, and how to enhance spells through triggering. And someone that's creative and is looking to get into an into an AoS-Style project... Yes that's right, there's yet another War3pub AoS project in the works. (note: this is not the one I was previously involved in here at The Pub).

This map right now revolves less around a 'story' and more on just really good gameplay. Other than the 'good' vs 'evil' theme that is. Making it a showcase basicly for all the outrageous, outlandish, exciting new custom features you 'n I and whoever else can come up with. IE: It'll give you triggerers and editers and idea-men out there a chance to show-off. It'll be that map where one day when you were sitting around thinking 'wow, such 'n such a spell or such 'n such a hero would be awesome', where that dream-hero/spell/ability/item will show up at.

This one will definately have a DoTA/BoTo/BTW/VoD-ish feel and flavor to it, only taken a step further. It'll revolve heavily around how much fun it is to play with a nice diverse array of interesting, imaginative, eye-popping, mouth-watering, pants-wetting, nipple-stiffening (okay maybe not nipple-stiffening, but you get the idea), all-new custom spells, heros, items, and abilities, which to me is always the fun of the custom-spell AoS sub genre. BUT, all the places where maps like DoTA go wrong, this map will go right. From more in-depth game play, to actually interesting-looking terrain tileset, right on down to wider fighting areas that much less harder to get stuck in. And BALANCE. Yes, we're going to try and make sure it's balanced on the first try so we don't have to go all the way up to v8.961-2 just to get it right.

Also, units for example will actually even matter more in this AoS than any other as they themselves actually have a balance to them, and generally more HP than most AoS. They wont just act as 'fodder' or an extra resource put on the map just to get gold and exp off of. 'Good' ranged counters 'evil' melee, while 'evil' melee coutners 'good' ranged, and to an extent, 'good' melee. 'Evil' towers counter both 'good' melee and ranged because they have the potenial to swarm easier than the 'evil' side's units do if they've been left unattended in a lane. 'Good' towers coutner 'evil' ranged. And 'evil' ranged, to an extent can stand up to 'good' towers longer than 'evil' melee. Something like this adds another little layer of strategy to the map, while still keeping it simple enough for everybody to catch onto.

That's just a couple examples.

Right now I have terrain: 90% done. (And it looks damn good if I say so myself). And basic unit spawn and movement triggers are 100% done. I've even got some cool special effects triggers for the towers on the 'good' side of the map too in the trigger department. Unit balance is at about 80% right now (That's including towers) But without any heros around to mess with that's gone as far as it can go, and it will probably change afterwards. I do already have hero concepts too, and concepts for new spells, abilities, and auras. I have Atleast 4 heros for each side fleshed out and ready to go so far. 2 spell sets for 2 heros already .slk edited and .txt edited with new custom buttons (even a few from Tft ), 'n effects 'n whatnot, with the other 6 on the way.


Basicly the bare bones of the map is already laid out and I'm finding I can't seem to go any further now because me personally I don't know JASS (but I'm trying to learn), and I'm really stilll kind of learning when it comes to triggers too on top of that. Which sucks because I have a head full of ideas and it's driving me insane that I can't make any of them happen because I just don't know how. What I -do- know about spell editing and triggering however, is enough to be more than a little usefull though. I'd say I was a novice in that department. I just can't get all the effects I want/need. But I'm a dynamite terrainer (just ask the guys in the WoC project), and I have great conceptual ideas for heros/spells/etc. And that's what -I'LL- bring to the table. Yes, I'm actually going to contribute. :P And this isn't about me just finding some dudes that're good with triggers to leech off of.

And this is where -you- come in. You'd be the guy that helps add most of the fun and personality into the map. So if any of you triggermen, editers, or masterminds out there are still looking for a little project to sink your into, or a place to show-off your skills at. Look no further, this is the map for you.

You can do anything you can do in jass in gui, but in gui it might be done a difrent, less eficient way.

Actually, you can do everything in JASS that you can with GUI, + more...

if u have map utilities, and umswe, u can do all u can do in jass in gui.

These last 3 posts aren't beneficial to what Ultramagnetic is asking, please keep on-topic guys :P.

Ultra: You've already taken the first step by trying to learn. Perhaps all you need is a guide rather then a trigger-person to do the work for you. Your dedication to this project is more then clear through your post, and I think that with but a little help it will blossom into something amazing. I offer my assisstance in this matter: I believe you have the skill to pull it offf for yourself, all you need is someone to give you a point in the right direction occassionally.

He knows how the AoS system works. He's already completed it, what he's asking for is assistance with advanced JASS-related functions with custom spells and so forth.

Thanks you kharma. And yeah, basicly this is what I'm asking for... Not exactly someone to do the work FOR me, but someone I can work -with- to make new spells 'n such so I can learn myself how to do it in the process...

I'm very knowledgeable in how the game's spells work and whatnot, and I've even figured out how to make a few custom spells that're tricky to pull off work (Atleast in theory). It's just JASS is beyond me right now.

But... Any help you guys wanna give me would be GREATLY appreciated.
