- How do you figure out the unitID for custom units? Say I have a lot of guys who can summon different things, so altering the base units may cause a bit of annoyance. I know you can just get the original unit IDs from unit.slk or something like that, but I need to get the custom ones. - What are some good references for unit animations and spell stuff? I'm having some big concerns like no animation for bladestrom on a nonbladesinger unit (I guess I shouldve expected that) and want units to do something when the cast custom spells (some raise their arms up, some just sit there oblivious). Meh, I'm still new at all this |

There's no way I know of to see the custom unit ID without using triggers. There's two good ways I know of to see it with them. Firstly, create a trigger that displays the unit id when you click on the unit in-game. However, a faster way is to create any kind of trigger at all that references the custom unit specifically, and then convert that trigger to Custom Text and find out what unit code it uses to refer to that unit. |

"Someone"? What a convenient way to pass off a potentially helpful task to a person other then yourself :D. But you're right that it may be a handy resource for some people. The compiling of said list wouldn't be very hard though, all you have to do is look through all the units and mark down the ones that have a 'spell' animation in WE. You can also tell a unit to play a specific animation it has when it's ordered to cast a spell through triggers. ~kharma |

That's a very nice list you have there Dakan, but it isn't particularly useful for what we're talking about :ggani:. We only need units with a "spell" animation tag. ie. nearly all have the "stand" animation, and all units have "walk", but not all have "spell" animations. ~kharma |

What other animations are there? I know a few units have their own custom animations, but is there a nice way to figure out which unit has which? Some can do a lot of things, while others just kinda sit there..with those beady eyes..mocking me. Oh, and are custom unitIDs supposed to be something like Custom_ch12 or something? So do I just drop "ch12" into my summoned unit field? (On vacation so I have the connected to internet comp in one place and comp with wc3 in another place so its hard to test stuff :P) |
