Guest | I have not found a tutorial specifically for animating and I find it odd. If one does exist, I would love a link. If not, would anyone with the knowledge be willing to share? |

More tutorials specific to this site will be coming, that's the next project I've got on the slate, but animation tutorials will be more complex so they will probably come later. For now you can go on any search engine and search for software specific animation techniques, there is a lot of tutorials out there about animating. |

Guest | Thanks, I just find it odd that on this site alone there are five modeling tutorials, and not one mention of animation. I will definately read up more on model animations overall, but not knowing how to apply them to WCIII (considering the constraints of the MDX/MDL format there seems to be) is what will ultimately limit me. Is there an ETA for some of these more 'advanced' tutorials? |

I'm sorry I don't know when right now. I haven't been able to work on it yet because I have been focusing all my energy into working on repub's exporter and fixing bugs and adding features in preparation for open source. The reason you find so little mention of animation is that high quality animation is undoubtedly the most complex process in creating a custom unit. |

im not sure about learning about how to animate for wc3 as you already said it has restraints on what you can do. But you can learn how to use bones and animation by reading tutorials of the net. if you have 3dsm then it comes with tutorials on how to animate models using bones so yo could learn that then when the tutorial comes out you will know most of the technical issues within it and understanding the proccess wont be so hard. If you have other modelling software then i guess you will have to search the net. |

Hi CitizenSnips, What are you doing with repub's exporter, and what do you mean by preparing for open source? I have been going mental trying to get importers and exporters to work properly with 3ds MAX. I haven't found an Importer/Exporter which deals with animations properly yet, but repub's was the only one I found which kinda worked. If there is something better on the way, I would love to hear about it, as I have a few original models I want to animate and import. MickyV |

Basically I've resumed work on it in his absence. Just fixing bugs and adding features. If you have animated models I'd like to give you a preliminary version of it. It would be very helpful to me to help me debug. Log onto IRC and ask for me and I can give you a copy of the current version of the script. The IRC channel and server are on the front page just above the news. |
