are there any tools that edit slk files other than ms excel? (or spell editors) i havent been able to find any, which makes it pretty hard if you want to edit an slk that isnt abilitydata.slk (btw, dont say notepad, that isnt easy to edit them with....) |

Theres some open office thing, but it never worked for me. If your serious about spell editing, you will quickly become familiar with MS Excel, since it is currently the best spell editor available. |

Really MS Excel is the easyest to use also! You could use notepad.... But then you cant creat new spells only edit the other ones that game with the game. |

The "some office thing" that Electro is referring to is called SunOffice. I understand that certain older versions of it worked, but the recent versions remove comment tags/perform a strange compression when saving the slk which conflicts with the way WC3 reads them. The developers have been made aware of this problem, but I am not aware of whether or not they will act to resolve it. BTW guys: He's asking about others because he obviously doesn't have Microsoft office -_-. ~kharma |

OMG!! Please people read what he is saying, he doesn't have Microsoft Office. Microsoft Excel comes with Microsoft Office. Therefore he doesn't have Microsoft Excel. He is asking for altenative tools instead of Microsoft Excel because he doesn't have it, not because he can't use it. He wants it so he can use it to play with the other slk files, he doesn't need a spell editor, he obviously already has one. Sheesh! :P ~kharma |

Of course OpenOffice.org does the job. The only bad thing about it is that it doesn't read the comments. |
