A better improved version of Advanced Melee AI is ready for the public. News this time is enhanced gameplay and build orders for the computers. We release this version now and will after this spend most time on adding more special features like tower rush for human and orc, we already got tower rush working, we only need to make it work a little better but while you wait, here is a screenshot of me being tower rushed by 3 orc computers. http://home.no/amai/AITowers.jpg For AMAI 0.8: http://home.no/amai |

Guest | My original praising post was lost in the forum crash so: AMAI is one of the very best AI modifications for any RTS game I've seen to date. Due in part to the power available in JASS, hard work constantly refining AMAI's strategies, decision logic to choose between these strategies in response to changing game conditions. A handy dandy player interface to control AMAI's every aspect; the Commander. A wee bit of extra micro in version 8 :) A required download for: Campaign/single player skirmish players: to best extend the life of Warcraft III ROC. Players too timid to venture onto battle.net: The usual advice is not to practice against the AI to prepare against other players; yet most all the strategies you will encounter there are encompassed in AMAI; fast expand, fast tech, mass casters, hero rush, et al. Drilling regularly with AMAI should allow you to coast to a level 10 account. Map makers: an agressive, versatile drop in AI solution. Keep up the great work. I'd wager AMAI would find ready acceptance for inclusion on the gaming magazine CD's. Try contacting those folks. Looking forward to exploring both 0.8R2 and 1.06 over the weekend. |

Aaah I didn't miss you post before the reset, I even answered it but Im not sure if you saw the answere. Any way I thank you for the probably best feedback AMAI got so far and I can promise you that we will continue develop AMAI as long as its possible. I really hope TFT will add a new dimention for AMAI and upgrade the hardcoded AI of war3 and make AMAI a lot better that way. We are currently working on adepting AMAI to 1.06 even more, a new release is already finished and I will put it up this evening. in coming version there will be functions as "Tower Rush" and the new un stuck function that makes the computer sell/destroy buildings or bring down trees that are in the way when units get stuck behind the base. It happen sometimes. And again, thanks for your great feedback. |

Guest | Two revisions ought to merit a bump. Bump :D V0.8 Release 4 ... today? I apologize for the lack of constructive feedback, by the time I get a few notes together you have a new update out. Seems like 1.06 has reinstated diversity of game play and likewise would allow greater latitude in what can be done with the AI. Battlenet is mostly give and take up to Tier 2 with moderate massing of something late game, at least from my perspective in the cheap seats. Games can even last long enough now to gain a few hero ultimates. One thing I've noticed in the Blizzard stock AI, heroes are want to waste mana best reserved for judicious ultimate casting. So being ignorant of what's in R4 that's a possible suggestion, develop AI tactics for using ultimates i.e. only in showstopper confrontations out in the field or when base busting, etc. Keep up the great work! Two weeks 'til Chilly Footstool, on sale at Goblin Shops near you. |

Yes I released the 4th release of 0.8 becuse I feelt sorry for all waiting fans while I was sitting there playing with it all by my self at home :) Well still there don't seem to be much more we can do to improve the gameplay of the AI by balancing/adding strategies at the moment so I decided to work more on the towerrush function. I think 0.9 will be released within 2 days from now, probably with towerrush for Orc and maybe human. Yesterday I remade it so it sends 2 peons to enemy base and build 2 towers at once while it sends other troops to guard the towers. works well so far but might be a waste of resources for the computers struggeling to make a good start, Im thinking of putting the "tower push" later in the game when the computers got a larger army and 2 heroes to guard the towers with. Well, mainly I just wait for frozen throne and War3 V1.10 in hopes that the hardcoded AI will be improved allowing AMAI to be a better mod, we also think there is a function to change names of the computers in frozen throne that will allow us to create different profiles (bots) of computers with different names and fovorite strategies and different agression. Getting tired of always see "'Computer(Normal)' was defeated". :) Thanks for the feedback ! |

Well, I don't do melee but I am interested in learning how to write ai scripts. So I came here and this is the first thing I read. Well, went to the site and I must say. This is quite impressive...wish I could do this kinda of stuff. |

Well, you are free to use our AMAI as base to any AI scripts you want. it works a bit different compared to the standard AI scripts but we think its better, its not as much lines of code to make the computers do the same thing, it's very dynamic. If you want to learn you better take a good look on the AI code (JASS) and read about JASS on http://jass.sourceforge.net |

The one thing I hate about it is fixible in TFT luckily. It's hard for me to make sure I don't have anything selected when I press ESC to get to the menu, because it will cancel anything I have going then. I did that twice in the first 5 mins. Luckily in TFT you can change the esc to a button so this won't happen. Other than that the computer seems much better. |

Guest | This may or may not be peculiar to an 8 player expanded version of Lost Temple, which does have funky start locations back to back.... "All your base are belong to us" Amai had hijaacked my natural expansion. Doh. And when it says "I already digged a nice grave for you" I think its detected my base rush and is confident it can repel the attack. So far its been right :) |
