SOS! ALPHA CHANNELS ARE (still...) KILLIN ME!

When i, in my photoshop 6, load from alpha channels, then i get the alpha channel areas selected, should those be the areas where the team colored areas are visible?
Or are they the areas of the model where team colors ARE NOT visible on the model?

I really would like to understand them, and how they work, in order to know how to use (and not use) them to the max...

Ugh...
Anything more specific you could say about them?

See, this is what i so far know about team color stuff:

-Team colors are fit in the model, not the skin
-The skin is just something the game stretches onto the model, hiding a part of the team colors

But the question is this: If i load a selection from alpha channel, do i then see the areas that are NOT opaque, or the areas that ARE opaque and show team colors ingame?

Opaque (100% white) parts are fully opaque so they doesn't allow the showing of player colors (a lower layer). Transparency (100% black) shows 100% of the team colors, but be warned that not all the model parts have player colors.

Ok, so one more question now...
If i want to "alpha out" something, do i then have to paint it all black?
I´ve been playing with alpha channels a lil for some time now and i´m understanding some more of them but i still need answer to (at least) this qurstion. :////

1 dumb question: after i erase it is it supposed to look black or white? :////
Or does it matter?

EDIT:
Hmm...
Now let´s think logically...
(I´ve managed to get the pants to show up by selecting them).
If they show up in an area with no alpha channels when they are selected, and i mange to cover a few alpha channels by selecting the areas they are on, then i would have to deselect the areas that i want NOT to show up...

Ehhh... :////
ARG! I just so hate alpha channels...
