Usually when I go to make a map I always want to do something that no one else has done yet, but when I see something on Bnet that IS or is similar to what I'm doing I usually give up, because it doesn't seem to be worth it. I usually lose motiviation for a map after about 20 hours I spend on it. I've lost motivation for the DCM a little while ago, since February 13, 2003 I've been doing terrain. Almost done 3/4 maps, but it's so damn boring to do, all 4 maps are 256x256, eek its alot to do. I find myself doing repetitive things constantly then I end up going back and changing them, it's a major time consumer to do that but I'm beginning to run out of ideas. When you are mapping/modding (whatever you are doing) and you spend most (if not all) of your free time doing it, how quick do you lose your motiviation for it? And when you do, do you continue to push yourself just to get it done, take a break or give up on it? |

Usualy when I get tired of a new map I am making (this is mostly in the early stages when it isn't at all playable, only about an hour or two spent), it is it. But on rare ocations I push on after taking a break on it for about a week or so. Regards |

I don't lose interest in a map so much as I procrastinate. I'm also a perfectionist, which makes things doubly-impossible to complete. I have a tendency to take on projects of epic proportions, then try and resolve every aspect of it all at the same time. I have a stubborn independence in my creations and therefore resolutely slave-away at something I know for a fact that I'll never end up finishing. So my problem is that I've got to curb my enthusiasm and take things down a notch :P And spend WAY less time on IRC :P ~kharma |

i lose motivation when it geyts in the balancings. endless hours or balancing. |

I'd rather be in a balancing stage of DCM rather than terrain every single time I'm working on it. |

I must be the king of unfinished maps. Seriously. Just in one of my maps folders, I have about 20-30 unfinished maps. I either lose interest or come up with some ultimate idea that is better than the first. Also, my huge 480x480 maps will prolly never get done, 'cause there SOOOOO huge! |

And I want everything to work perfect on this one. Which means I'll never have it out before TFT, which in turn means I'll be obsolete before I even release it. *sigh* |

I have only one unfinished map, and thats basically because I decided the arena I am currently working on would be better suited for what Im doing.. As for my arena, I will not lose interest! |

When i see people make a map that look like mine, i just think as some competition.. and I just have to make my map better so its gonna be played more often =) |

I usualyy lose interest when the non creative parts come in... The Terrain is always fun(almost) but when the really advanced triggeringing comes into play and i spen maybe 5 hours on one single dau banging my head against the wall in frustration of not being able to solve the problem i usually ignore that damn machine for a week and hang out with freinds instead |
