Guest | My new map is just about ready for multiplayer testing. Is there someone I can send it to with some authority (someone at Blizzard perhaps) who can acknowledge that its my map so all the n00bs (like me) who test it dont all go around saying that it's theirs? I dont really want to use the Weeadder protection program. |

Guest | only way to do that is to use weadar's protection program. sorry. it acttly works well from stopping the masses |

Guest | there are countless o ways for protecting your map but all methods resolve with "deleting"something. =) you should ask Zepir or Weaadar or 3millioncheese about this as they figured more possibilities to protect your map |

Unfortuantly that inferno guy who spams a thousand times in his stolen map that it will cuase an IP BAN if your cuahgt playing a modded version is full of shit. My protection method will stop literally anyone, except people the people who are damn good, who usually don't steal maps anyway. The program is completely safe and the process is sort of reversable. (Not a 100% yet). |

Guest | Even if it's not 100% reversible...you can always create a copy of the original to keep for yourself on your own hard drive and then "protect" the copy you send out to everyone else, right? That is, the original and the protected one will play exactly the same without bugs or other errors. |

Guest | I broke down and got Weaaddars protection program and tried it out. It worked great, it was fast, and it was easy. Problem solved :) |

My map protector is so fast I may actually add a wait for it for just the purpose of slowing it down. |
| 08-02-2002, 03:21 AM | #8 |
Guest | I think you should, with a nice progress bar... And a pop-up menu saying that you added the wait cause it was so god damn fast. |

Guest | No, a progress bar isn't needed. Maybe you should just have a pop-up saying the protection process is complete. Also, put an automatic backup feature on it or something for the idiots out there. ;) |

Hey weaaddar, just wondering here, how did you send your command out to mpq2k through VB? |
| 08-02-2002, 04:32 PM | #11 |
I didn't I generate a bat file. Thats right your wondering why there is a temp.bat in your directory well open it up and be amazed at the whole program. And your Not suppose to save to the original map but create a new one. |

Guest | I didnt want to use your protection program at first because I saw a couple of posts saying "Protector doesnt work!" and "I cant open my maps anymore!" and i got nervous :) Its a great prog though. The only bad thing I can say about it is that I had to go to Google and DL 2 files before it would work. Thats not a very big complaint though. GJ |

Am its not my fualt its the fact that people are a) stupid and illertirate B) stupid illetiarate and lazy. Obviously it says DO NOT INSTALL IN WAR3 DIRECTORY IN the RE-PACK. Also it says all the files you would possible need (VB6 runtimes and MPQ2k) What I forgot to mention you may need rich edit ocx..Nothing I could of done as neither of my test pcs didn't need it. |
