I really don't want to bump this thread, but...... Everytime a thread like this gets made (if it actually gets posts, I mean), it eventually gets too big that no one (ecspecially n00bs, as you call them), will bother reading through it and they will just make a new thread. |

I more or less agree with Draco. However, kharma started a FAQ thread, and if it gets trimmed regularly, it will be a good solution for the new mappers. |

Guest | I'm a noob and I got a question for ya. I'm trying to make a unit for my map that is based on the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. I want to make a Myrddraal unit. One of the things in the book (and RPG) is that when a myrddraal is killed he doesnt move around anymore, but will still thrash at things that come near until the next sunset. Also before the next sunset it is possible to heal the Myrddraal and he will come back to 'life' again. Would I be able to set something up like this using triggers? |

Guest | I would also like to have a darkhound unit. One thing with these I would like to implement is that they dont leave tracks on normal surfaces (ex. dirt, mud, grass, snow), but instead leave tracks imbedded into stone. What files would I need to mess with to try this one? |

Guest | With the Myrddraal I want: When the unit is supposed to die, instead to 'not die yet.' The unit shouldn't be able to move, but still attack anyone that comes near. The unit needs to be triggered to die whenever the sun sets (while in this state). Also the unit neads to be able to be healed (thus raising his hp above 0). The trigger where the unit will die at sunset should also be removed if he is healed. |

use umswe, make them i nany folder, and edit the icon pathto the path of ur icon. umswe is in the pop tools tread |

That's not strictly true, Earth-Fury. It will find your base icon in any directory, but it will only find the DIS (disabled) variation if you have them both in the appropriate directories. For buttons, the directory is ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\ For the disabled versions of the same buttons, the directory is ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\ The normal button should have the syntax BTNyourname.blp and the disabled button should be DISBTNyourname.blp There's another directory and syntax for PAS (passive) buttons. EDIT: Also, if you're not using UMSWE, you can name your button the same name as an existing icon, set it to the icon you replaced, and the game will find yours first and use it. |

Guest | okay, i have a few questions: firstly, the *first* time i load a map with custom abilities, the tooltips and icons dont work. but if i just restart, everything works dandy. i read in a tutorial this can be fixed by setting the loading screen to 'default', but this did not solve my problem. how can i fix this? second, abilities that can be turned on and off, defend, bloodlust, innerfire, etc., dont work when i turn them into hero abilities, they remain dark, and sometimes say they require shaman master training or whatnot. what do i need to do differently? third, for some items, when i turn them into passive abilities, they do not have any 'art' however they do have a 'researchart' and yes i did assign an art to them. otherwise the abilities work fine. fourth, would it be possible to create a passive ability that increases the bounty received by creeps? if so, what triggers would i use? finally, where can i find this FAQ that was mentioned above? thanks for the help |
