An idea more than 30 players, but I doubt this is possible without heavy modding. Lets say that you play an MMORPG in singleplayer - BUT... Instead of players making a game on battle.net and waiting for people to join ect, you could Join / Leave at will, though use of a server and client programs. Players could be represented as units. And as for chat, the client would manipulate the triggering system to show messages through the game that other players have typed, as well as other things like movement. Still, this sounds a little unreal and requires heavy modding / Creation of a server and client programs. |

The FPS people are working on this right now, and from what I gather, there will be 16 players in one game (like delta force series?). |

With a stable good connection, it could be done. As long as billions of monsters aren't doing something at the same time, and the characters are relatively apart, it'd be a good idea. It may lag a little, but I think the thing limiting this is the size of your map. If you had multiple servers for multiple areas, it may just be crazy enough to work :P (Though people would hate the loading in between) |

The idea is the players that are not in range will not be loaded. |

you have no idea how the structure of war3 works. The players in Range not be loaded would be insanely difficult War3 loads everything. Also the sync program that stoned showed me seems to only work well with 4 players any more and it became pretty laggy and it did not do anything about NPCs, any NPCs are unaccounted for so it causes a problem and as such none are present on the maps I've seen. |

Ugh.... thats not what i meant! I meant that the map would be divided into other maps, and you would only get the players in your current map... and besides, it's just an idea, nobody ever said anything about the structure of wc3. |
