Guest | I am working on a custom campaign, no modding, just levels. I have the Campaign Installer program, the background, the Icon, and the maps all ready, but I cannot figure out how to turn them all into a .dat file or whatever so the Installer will make my "game". Can anyone help me? I know this place is full of high-brow modders and campaign makers, so I thought some of you could help me? |

If you only make levels, you don't need the Custom Campaign Installer. Just pack all the maps into an archive (ZIP or RAR) and make that available for download. In a readme file you point out that the user has to unpack the maps into a subfolder of the maps folder. |

The Custom Campaign Installer thing or the other thing? |

Guest | Sorry. What I don't know is how to turn all this stuff into a useable .zip file. |

At first I'd put everything into a folder. Maybe even some sort of folder structure: 1) Create a folder "Maps" onto your Desktop or somewhere else. 2) Create a subfolder of this folder named as you wish (the campaign name would be good) 3) Go back to the folder where your Maps folder (the one you created) resides. Make sure you have WinZip or WinRAR (or similiar tool installed). Most compression programs like WinZip provide a shell integration (that means that there is a WinZip menu, if you right-click a folder or a file). Right click your folder and select the right option to compress them to one archive. If you don't know how to do that, take a look into the documentation/manual of your program. I don't want to explain it for a certain program, as it won't help you if you have another program. Basically, you should be familier with such tools like WinZip (or be willing to become familiar). If you tell me what program of that sort you have, I can give you a more specific help. To download WinZip: www.winzip.com To download WinRAR: www.rarlabs.com |

Guest | Thx for all the help. I'm downloading WinZIP as I type this, so It'll probably be done in a little while. I beleive that once in .zip form, I'll be able to submit my maps/campaigns. If you're not too frustrated from explaining things to me, I also would like to know how I can submit.:foot: |

Submit to WC3Campaigns? You can post it into the Map Development Forum. I'm not frustrated, but you are right, I don't like to explain such basic things. Most poeple here are supposed to know that. But everyone starts somewhere. Maybe you become a great modder... |
