Is there a way to make spells with auto-cast,(ie: Inner Fire) be able to use with items. I set an item with the spells with auto cast and I can't do anything with it. I can right click and it will make the auto cast sound :\ Anyone know how to make it so I can use these spells with items>? I found out that by giving an item the defend ability, when I pick it up it adds the ability to the unit and it lets me use it. Then when I drop the item the ability leaves. There has to be a way to do this. I compared the data between Frost Armor and the auto cast one and the only difference was the spell code :\ ANYone know anything that can help ://// |

Well, as for the defend part - I have never got defend to work correctly in anything. Not as a hero spell or change its position. So it would'nt be strange if it would act different when given to an item either. |

Well I don't know about the position of the spell, but all you have to do is in the unit editor give an item the ability defend. Then make sure defend is researched for the current player and pick the item up. Once it's in the hero's inventory, the spell appears. Then when you drop it, it dissapers. THIS is why I know item spells can be done. I am going crazy over this emote_sweat |

First, the way this thread evolves makes it a little bit off-topic. Anyways. You meant : "Items can be given unit spells" I am happy you found this out. Not really a scoop, but as it wasn't really mentioned around, thats good you posted this info, i am sure it will be very useful for all learning map makers. As for the Auto-Casted spells, i think they are just incompatible with the way items can tranfer unit abilities. All i noticed it that you only hear the auto-cast sound if you enabled the field "actively used" And to try to put this thread back on-topic, no i don't think this issue can be solved using SLK or TXT editing.
