Guest | Howdy all, I just wanted to say I'm glad there is a forum for Wc3 that isn't an expandable ladder like blizzard had. Thats always bugged me about their forums. I am no novice to bizzard games, from thier original WC to their latest expansion... i've played them all. I started messing with maps when WC2 came out when it had 4 options, easy medium and hard.... cannot remember the 4th option... if there was one. Through all their games that allowed map creation I tried my hand.... as i'm sure you all did. I had just gotten a handle on SC map editor (for the most part) when WC3 came out. I can see what blizzard sas by alot easier to use, but at the same time its also 100 times more complex. For example, in SC I wanted to create a campaign map with 2 comp controlled towns, one that ran a semi hard script and one that ran a very hard script. I assign them both a script and its done. Now with wc3 I have vyet to find a AI script anywhere that says... ok your only half dumb... basically one that covers all aspects of their thinking. Was this adjusted to many different scripts. I recall seeing one that says "Set research level" and one "Set max hero level" or something close. Is this how its now addressed..... guess I just answered my own question huh? hehe Also has anyone started compiling what does what, and how to achieve this? kind of list? I've visted a few places like http://www.wconline.org/worldedit/faq/index.php and http://www.dom.lordaeron.net/ for some general help... i'm probably asking too much too soon. The game isn't even 2 months old and I want all the answers. ;) Also is there anyone hosting maps? I have created (what I call) the bloodyclaw series. 3 maps in all so far. My best friend and I have tested them and he enjoys them. Right now i'm addressing my use of cinematics and such... playin around with waterfalls. Basically I'm just sayin howdy, good to meet all of yas and general ramblings! |

Guest | Set research level and Set max hero level have to do with players and units. The Set research level probably sets the current research either by tier or probably for an individual research/tech. Set max hero level deals with the level when a hero cannot gain any more experience which is a number less than 10. I think that's right... Can't really help you with the scripting... Yeah, I hate the expandable ladder forums too. ;) |

Guest | My current problem is I am currently trying my hand at a campaign like board. Each player is assigned a named NPC (custom made). Do I remove any/all scripts that start with Melee Game - "....."? If so what should I replace them with? I checked out the script called AI - Start melee AI script for player ? Is this one that I should employ into my game. Hopefully one of you have had similar problems and figured them out and can shed some like onto my problem. Thanks in advance! |

You need to run a Campaign script instead of Melee, I seem to recall that if you chose Campaign script, it lets you input a specific script used in the game for a level.. Now here's the tricky part, though: You need to know what to write there, which could be a pain.. you could probably find out the path of the name in the MPQ, but if you're like me, you'll just wait for someone to make a list ;) |

Guest | LOL I might have to do that. I have everything figured out so far with the map except the damn AI script to make them do something other than pick their noses. Thanks for your help! :D |
