Here are some worldeditor tips:
Shift+Right Mouse Button = Zoom
Ctrl+Right Mouse Button = Rotate
Right Mouse Button = Slide map around
Arrow on keyboard = Move around

To delete things: Choose the class of the item your deleting in the Palette, I.E. Doodads palette for trees, Units palette for units. Next, put you cursor over the map and hit the Esc key. Finally, use your mouse to draw a selection box around the item want to delete. Now hit the Delete key. Selection can also be used to select groups of objects for copying and moving (caution selecing a bunch of tree for moving will cause LAG).

To select terrain for copying: Make sure ur in terrain palette and hit ESC, now select the region that you want to copy, mirror, etc. Basicly the ESC key is what get u back your regular cursor for all this selection stuff.

To rotate doodads and units: Select and double click. Change rotation value.

To place gold mines: Goto unit palette, then in the second drob down edit box select Neutral Passive, it's in the second set first icon on the left.

To place start locations: Goto unit palette, then in the second drob down edit box select Player(*), its the very last button on the right in the bottom row, you will notice the icon is missing.

If you only have one player: Goto Scenario-->Player Properties.., and for every player you want to add set the the Control setting to User.

You can also be viewing more then one map at a time, just open it up, and then switch between in the Window Menu.

Hope this answers some of your questions, thats about all I can think of for now. Learn the shortcut keys, they are helpful, like for example 'A' hides/shows the tool palette.

I found a new cool way to rotate units. While the unit is selected, hold down ctrl and click, he will be facing the the direction of your click.

In order to make a UMS map, go to the Force Properties option under the Scenario Tab, and check both the "Use Custom Forces" and "Fixed Player Settings" boxes.

To see more terrain when you zoom out, hold down ctrl and rotate the mouse wheel down. Now you can get a bird's eye view of the actual map. If you don't have a mouse wheel, hold down shift, ctrl, and the right mouse button.

increase/decrease view distance: ctrl + mouse wheel

You can also use Ctrl+left/right to rotate.

also if you want to place doodads in unplaceable areas, select a doodad, hold down CTRL and use the numpad keys to move it into an invalid area. Also you can hold down CTRL and use the pgup/down keys to move it higher/lower. (This will fix the issues with bridges and gates floating in the air)

They can't be placed next to eachother as there are always gaps...tried searching for some sort of option that turns grid spacing off but couldn't find anything...anyone help?
