Walkable crap....Hard....WHY...

I know its probably an easy question, but I need to know how and IF units can walk on buildings. Like the top of rooftops. Also, I need to know if its at all possible to turn...say....a GIANT DRAGON into a doodad, and make its back walkable. It'd be hard to do this otherwise.... :bgrun:

can't you just replace the ramp model with a dragon model?

Yes, well, a unit wont walk over a structure. I have already stated that.

Ok, we are making progress. Now how would I change the ramp model with a dragon model, and how would I make the structure "walkable"? I have no idea how to do either of these things. But if I were to change the ramp into a dragon, then the dragon would no longer be Giant, would it? I need a huge dragon, to be able to be walked on....

i think that u have to kind of "scale" it.... but i dont know how... have u tried the doodad.slk file to see the options =?

open up the replaceable units slk and find like a doodad like a bridge or somthing, whatever you want to use . all you haft to do is replace the model that is used in that column, and make sure that in the walkable column is set the value to 0 which is walkable

also to answer your other question, i dont think walking on a dragons back will work, you can try but i dont think it will work. the thing hast to be like basicly flat. things that are walkable in wc3 have a ton of bones and have things set up correctly so they can be walked on. changing the model in the slk to a dragon might work, but when a unit goes to walk on it, it wont just walk straight up it, it would probably just go through it. you can try, but walking on a unit like dragon probably wont work

Truthfully, I dont even want to use a dragon as the model. Well....Ive been working on a "secret" map. No questions about it please. Well.. Shoot....Honestly, I need Fox's ship, from the Star Fox series. The big Carrier, that hold all the ships, and sorta looks like a 747 (a big commerical plane). I was willing to use a dragon model, just for testing, but If it wont work, then I dont know... Units can walk on bumpy ground, so why not a Dragons back. ://// Well, Im stumped...

As for the walking on structures....I just need to be able to walk on the top of rooftops of the cityscape houses. Would the units walk through those also? Or would they walk over the humps, and so on?

there are two things you would need for units to be able to walk on it. 1 it would haft to be fairly flat, yes there can be a few bumps, but nothing crazy, example a dragons back.. and 2, it would haft to have a lot of bones set correctly to allow walking.
as far as i know, no one has screwed arround with stuff like this. so i am not sure how to set bones correctly to make a structure walkable. i think you should try it out on some semi flat structures or somthing. maybe it will work. i think if you had a star fox ship.. if it was flap on the top or semi flat, i think you might be bale to have units on it.

If you explained why you need them to be able to walk on the dragon's back then I might be able to help you.

Dataangle, havent you ever heard of walking on dragon backs? Well Uhh....A Blue Dragon is the only model that even remotely compares to Fox's ship from Star Fox. And Uhh....I sorta need to be able to walk on the top of it, for a level in my new "secret" map. If you had played the actual game, you would know what im talking about....Its a Nintendo game....A very good Nintendo game called Super Smash Bros. So really, Ill need the characters to be able to stand on a paused Blue Dragon back, and then to be able to use my jumping and arrowkey commands. Yep, Star Fox....Yup.....

I love Smash Brothers and I've thought about doing a map of it, but there's ALOT of technical barriers to be smashed:

-Keyboard control where you can hold down keys (yer gonna need the fps mod program)
-Jumping
-Detecting punches/kicks hitting
-Handling increased bounciness based on damage

You have a challenge ahead of you but I think it's possible. Unless you're absolutely obsessed with doing a direct port though, I think you'd be better off just not having the exact same levels as the real game.

Aheam! I didnt ask for arrowkeymovement or jumping, or any of that stuff, because i have done it!. I have my levels done, and all the technical stuff down, and its actually looking GOOD! :D It works, and its fricken cool, but all thats left is Fox's level, and samus's level. I mean cmon, you gotta have them, they are just good :)

But for Fox's level, I only can use a Giant "paused" dragon. See what im getting at? I need it, or else my map will never ever be complete....EVER....

Also, for Samus's level, brinstar depths, i need to know if its possible to use the blight green thingy, as a doodad (its in UMSWE), then raise it up and down to do damage and fling the characters around. I know how to do it, i just wnat ot know if its possible. :ggani:

No im not gonna need the fps mod program. I got it figured out without using anything but the WE.....But do you know how to do this Dragon back walking or building walking?? You said you would be able to help me.
