This is my official Thread where all knowledge and progress of my new map, "Gods" will go. My old thread was This Thread and didn't get enough attention to the questions, as they were on the second page of the article. I will now post all progress/questions/screenshots here and I will also have a description up soon, and possibly (though NOT now), the map for downloading. -=-=-=-=-=- GODS -=-=-=-=-=- Gods came to me in a dream and I wrote it down on a notepaper I found lying beside my bed in the middle of the night... PSYCHE. No, I didn't dream it up, but it came to me over like 2 days and I kept thinking "I HAVE to make this map..." and I finally got started on it, although slow. After discussing stuff and how to do things like Dialog Menus (Thanks Alexis) and giving UP on Dialog Menus, I started on the triggering. Although, according to my signature, the terrain is officially considered "20%" completed (top right is done, rest is still needed to do), I have already started on the triggering and still need help as how to do some things... (I will post these questions later in this post) -=-=-=-=-=- HOW IT WORKS -=-=-=-=-=- Gods is a map in which two teams of four face off just like a normal melee, exept for one thing --- theres gods that aid them in their struggle for dominance. The gods, one for each side, require sacrifices to make their spells work. These sacrifices are totalled up as wood/lumber points in the Gods interface and allow him/her/it/alien/being-of-unknown-origin to cast the various spells he can command. There will be additional spells added to the map (and maybe spell groups, depending on what I will do once released) after I release the initial beta including my basic spells for each group. (Spell-Groups are as follows: Fire, Earth, Water, and Electricity. Two bonus groups also exist, one for player Red (Holy God, spell group is "Life") and one for player Blue (Un-Holy god, spell group is "Death")) -=-=-=-=-=- SPELLS -=-=-=-=-=- The spells use a pretty cool system of sacrifices. Lets say player 3's god (player 3=Teal because player 1= Red (Holy God) and player 2= Blue (Un-Holy God)) wants to cast the spell EarthElemental. First he/she/it/alien/being-of-some-unknown-origin needs to type -Spells (-S for short) to open up the main spells menu. This menu contains the basic spell groups that the player may enter to find many more spells. The god then types -Earth (-Ea for short) to open up the Earth Spells Menu. Various spells are displayed (More to come after initial beta) and he chooses EarthElemental. He can type -EarthElemental or -EE, it does not matter because they both bring up same statistics, to bring up the EarthElemental menu. This brief description of the spell describes its use, type, and amount of Sacrifical Points (Wood/Lumber) that are required for the spell. In this case, E.E. requires 10 Lumber points. So, lets say Teals god has 50 lumber points and then types -CEE (C=cast, EE=EarthElemental, its same for every spell, EXAMPLE: -CEQ, -CFON, -CMS, -CM) to cast the spell. The curser of teals god changes to a targeting cross-hair and lets the god cast the spell in a location he desires --- that is currently being seen by his allies, of course. (for balancing issues... :p) NOTE: All this can be skipped by just typing -CEE to cast the spell without opening the menus, the menus are there for the gods help of browsing spells. -=-=-=-=-=- OTHER FEATURES -=-=-=-=-=- This map will ALSO include, for those of you players out there who think the game will be a total waste-of-time for the melee players, 1) New hero spells, 2) Maybe a new hero for each race, MAYBE 3) Customized units and some other features I havn't thought up. (Any help on these features would be appreciated, especially ideas!!) I believe that is a thorough description on how my map is going to work and I hope you all look forward to it because it IS looking good despite my lack of updates in the previous post~! UPDATES - Will be posted probebly Saturday-Wendsday UPDATES - Saturday - Got VERY little work done on terrain. - Got all help menues done, including "God Powers" menu, "Worshippers" (Melee players) menu, "Special Thanks" menu, and the "Updates + Fixes" menu. - Got '-Spells' ('-S') menu done. - Got '-Earth' ('-Ea') menu done, for now untill I add more spells. - Got '-EarthElemental' ('-EE') menu done. - Am trying to work on making a unit cast a spell, but can't figure it out... need help on this... |

You ought to just make it a set of triggers so you can import/export it to any map you like, like DMMod |

Next up is my Questions part of my thread... please read this and help me answer the questions!!! Thanks in advance. First off, I need to know if this will work. Event- Player 1 Types -CEE as an exact match Condition- Player 1 lumber is equal to 10 Action- Remove 10 lumber from player 1 Action2- Make unit cast spell I need to know, although that is a very skeletal example of how the trigger actually looks, if the unit will cast a spell if the player 1 DOESNT have 10 lumber. I want the condition to look like this: "Condition- Player 1 lumber is equal to 10, else do nothing" but I can't find the "else do nothing" part anywhere, please help on this. Also, for testing purposes I'm trying that same trigger out but like this: Event- Player 1 Types -CEE as an exact match Condition- Player 1 lumber is equal to 10 Action- Remove 10 lumber from player 1 Action2- Make "Dont Click Me!!" (its the units name) to Night Elf - Druid of the Talon - Faire Fire Picked Unit ... the cross hair for player 1 DOES NOT turn into a targeting cross hair as it should do when the unit casts the spell upon being ordered to do so by the trigger. Yes, the unit is Owned by player 1, and its in range of the units I'm trying to test it on, and it has mana to use the spell... PLEASE HELP! Thats all questions for right this second, any help on those would be WONDERFULLY AND GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks in advance, and with your help this map will get done quicker, remember that! |

Sure Thing, Piro! I'd love to have you help out with triggers. I'll private message you and speak to you more tommarow. (EDIT) you have Disalowed Priv Messages, Piro, I can't exactly speak to you that way :/ So I'll say it here... If you want to help out on the triggers, I would be delighted, as I'm not very good at triggers and I usually progress slow. I have the basic stuff done and you can model off of that, I suppose. Can you do that for me? Oh, and by the way, if you know how to add "Hero Glows" to units that don't have "Hero Glows" I'd be happy because you said you can mod skins, I'd like a modded skin with hero glow satyr hero for the melee people... stuff like that. You don't have to do any of the terrain, I think I'm pretty good at terrain and I can handle it... thanks for the offer, reply asap so I can figure out what to do with the maps triggers and stuff, also where you live wouldnt hurt, as time zones could be a problem... Question one: Without the condition why the hell would the trigger run? So, no. Else you wouldn't use conditions when making maps. "'Condition- Player 1 lumber is equal to 10, else do nothing' but I can't find the "else do nothing" part anywhere, please help on this." That's incorrect... If player X wood greater then or equal to 10 do nothing else do skip remaning actions (on top of list). It would work just as good as the condition in your example trigger. Of course you may set something to do, like run a trigger, if there are more then one player that this is used for. Tell me if more then one player will use this trigger and I'll show you. I can tell you that the base works. What you want to do with it, I don't get. Do you want a unit to throw a spell? Maybe you forgot to select a target? *cough* Anyway, if you need any help you can always ask me. Piro has another map going on, aint that right, piro? |

It is up to Pir0 if he wants to work on 2 maps at the same time. (if what you say is correct) It is his/her/its/aliens/creature-of-unknown-origin's choice, not yours. However, I thank you for the help on the triggers... and no, when I type -CEE I want the unit to cast the spell and have a targeting cross-hair for the curser so you can target a unit anywhere. Is that even possible? And Pir0, do you have any experiance with Dialog Menus? Thanks |

Yay! I think I've found a way to cast spells using dialog menus! Check the attached map. To cast a Purge spell for 10 lumber, press ESC and select Purge in the menu. The next unit you click on will be Purged. In my map, it's the wisp who cast Purge. However, since you probably don't want wisps scattered all over your map, I think you should edit the spells so that they have longer range, and then place the wisp in a remote corner somewhwere. Also, this only seems to work for spells targeting UNITS... :( For other spells, I guess you'll have to find someone better with triggers than me... |

omg... my name has been STOLEN. lol. ok sure, i will take a look at it. but casting using chat commands or dialog boxes isn't all that smooth. i suggest you make a system where your 'god' gets mana from sacrificing (they have no mana regen otherwise). it would also be cool to at least edit the races a bit. hero glow is not a skinning thing and requires importing of files but i can do that too. btw, you can contact me at: [email protected] |

Ummmm... the else do nothing is actually under actions. But you don't need it because you already have the conditions, and don't do lumber is equal to ten, because that means your lumber will actually have to be exactly 10 for it to work, you should do, lumber greater than or equal to 10. But incase you still think you really need it, the action is close to the top, called if/then/else. Oh and the target won't show up because the unit using the spell needs to be selected and actually have the spell. |

this reminds me of Age of Mithology... its a normal RTS game, but there is gods. there is a few or 4 gods per civilization. i dont wana tell u all this stuff instead u can just go to the home page for AoM and read it urself. |

I got another new idea, and thanks a LOT for the map, it inspires me to continue with the Dialog Menu idea. Partly because its easier to navigate and partly because its cooler... but the only problem is this: I want the GOD to be able to select the unit with the targeting cross-hair. Like when you click the "Slow" button from the sorceress skill set and are able to select the unit, and have the caster cast the spell on it. Instead of the unit cast the spell and you selecting which unit. It sounds the same but if you downloaded that map that Pirogen supplied us you will see the difference. I guess it would work, and it isnt all that hard. Thanks a LOT Pirogen... *hugs* er, okay... ANYWAYS on to my new idea!! My new idea involves "manifesting" of the god inside the physical plane! AND this one wont be hard either, actually rather easy and really cool. It involves like 6 sacrifices of 6 powerful units (or maybe pre-set mercs) at the same time to make your god manifest as a huge... godly being. It can cast good spells and is very powerful but has a time limit of 5 mins, I'll make it in the map and show you it in a while in a screenshot, if I can figure out how to open a Wc3 Screenshot and save it as JPG (need help on this, lol) hehe Thanks!! |

Okay, Piro, Heres your first task!! I need you to make Two Acolyte skins, theres like 5 different acolyte models in the game (fallen priests + undead acolyte) and I need two of them changed for my "shrine" in the middle of the map. I have it almost done and I WILL Post a screenshot of it once its completely done so you know what it will look like.. I need these done: - An acolyte unit with demonic colored robes, glowing red eyes, and creepy black designs going over his robes... leave the skin the pale color, I like that. That unit will be the Bottom teams main god-summoning unit. - Next, I need a lighter colored acolyte, with skin like the archmages, not all wrinckly like acolyte. He needs light colored robes -- like arch mage -- and black designs just like first acolyte. Make his eyes do the priests shiny thing (the blue stuff coming out of his eyes) if you can, or just leave em normal. Thanks! Let me know if you need the map in order to do this, or if you just need to edit some internal files! Hope you reply ASAP |

UPDATES - Sunday - Fixed all Help-Guide menues. - ADDED DIALOG MENUS MUAHAHAHA - Got shrine done - Got Shrine Door triggers done - Various other triggers Completed Status report - Terrain - about 30 % Triggering - About 15% God Powers - 0 % <--- this score is about how much moddded-skills I have done, not the triggers Dialog Menus (YIPPY!! YEY) - 10% 10 % 10 %! muahaha Im so proud of myself for making the Dialog menus, I think I need a hearty round of applaus... *listens to cricket chirpings* oh nevermind ... It's so quiet around here, I hope pe0n hasn't abandoned me or is just really quiet cus of 1) hes sleeping, or 2) hes working REAL hard on the skins!! :D Yay, I got so much done today... I would post screens but I need a program to open the screenshots up in and save them as JPGs, or whatever those things r called... any suggestions?! I wanna show u guys my Dialog Menu badly :D (EDIT) - I don't understand how to add text to Dialog Menus, is it the "Change Tital" one? Please tell how, im going to bed, cya all in the morning!! |
