You'd be amazed what you find out perusing the Battle.net forums for posts by Blizzard employees. They love to hint at things. Here's the most recent tidbit I found by Brett Wood:<quote>Wouldn't it be great if the editor had some way of browsing through all the model files associated with units and abilities, perhaps even previewing what those models look like? </quote> Sounds like he's hinting at a new feature of the Frozen Throne World Editor, built right-in to the new Object Editor. Another mention was made just the other day about the spells and abilities that have bugs within the War3 engine:<quote>Warcraft III was not designed as a generic game engine, it was designed as a specific game with specific units and abilities. The fundamental purpose of the Unit Editor, soon to be the Object Editor, is to allow you to modify the various data files and see if/how it works in the game. While this provides a large amount of flexibility towards modifying the game, there is no guarantee that any given data configuration will work as you think it should. It is simply not feasible for Blizzard to support every possible configuration of unit/ability/upgrade data.</quote> This means of course, that as is the case now, when it comes to making sure the abilities work, it's up to us. |

Thats what i wanted hear to change the casting art without having to so much editing in txt files and slks. Would this include changing icons of spells? and will you be able to load files out side the reg mpq as mdx or blp or will it just be strings and you have to still use a mpq program to add them. |

Excellent News! I'm still fairly new at this site, and dont do that much war3 editing(only enough to have some sort of idea of what im doing), and this news means that it will be even easier to edit stuff without going into all the files and editing them only to find that you've screwed up and have to start again! w2g blizzard! I hope u can understand what im saying above, -Donkey |

Disappointing. Good thing the FM team has found a way to bypass this little oversight. :D He also spoke about spell editing some. He said that they didn't have time to support the modification of buffs in the editor, that that will have to be done with text editing still. He said that the text buff editing WILL be compatible with the WE editing. He also said: Quote:

The new editor will also have an AI editor and a file importer / import manager, along with the already known campaign editor. |

Guest | What id liek to see in an editor is being able to upload JPG's and GIF files into the editor and turning them into the model, not everyone can afford the expensive programs. |
