Well, I am really starting to appreciate this forum! Seems as if there are people who know what they are doing and can help me out! Anyway, I'm looking to make a fissure spell much like the one from Diablo II. I have a few ideas of what to do: 1) Base on death and decay, change graphics to that of earthquake/thunder clap, and make the target graphic like a flame from cinematic or something. Spell would do dmg % wise over time. 2) Use Inferno, but have no unit be summoned. Use earthquake again, and use flame for target. Spell would be do certian number of damage all at once. If anyone has any other ideas, that would be great!! I'm hoping Bloodspawn knows what to do, he seems to have answered all my other questions :D |

One of my favorite things to do with spells like this is to make actual units into flames that burn people. Then instead of death and decay, you can use sentry ward and special effects to create a more realistic looking spell. To make a flame do the following: Create a flame unit, give it a specialized immolation that does damage every .25 seconds and has a buff that is the fireball damage buff. This unit can have any model, since we will make it invisible, give the unit a classification of "standon" and set its collision to 0 and its ready to be used in triggers, make the unit invulnerable with a movement rate of 0. Now for the actual trigger, you should do 2 things to make this work. Make the unit invisble by setting its transparency (use set unit vertex shading), to 100%. Now, we attach a sfx to the unit, i like to use townburningfireemitter for flames and stuff. Set a timed life on the unit, of 8 seconds or so, and viola you have a very cool flame that will actually burn units and wont block anything. Now, some of you may wonder why make it invisible, why dont you just use a flame model? Well the reason for this is expandibility. Lets say that you want to use a blue flame in another spell, or like an immolation caster in a third spell, this lets you do that easily by attaching sfx. You can change the size of your flames by just chaning the size of the unit too. Anyway, with a sequence like this, i would use rain of chaos or sentry ward and summon wisps or something with the spell. Then you delete the wisps with triggers and wherever there is a wisp, you put a flame of random size and like an earthquake caster. And that will make a pretty neat spell. (i think thats what fissure looks like, i hate druids, too much clicking hehe) Eye |

As I understand the area for summoning on a rain of Chaos spell is huge! Is it possible to make this area smaller and give it a smaller area graphic, such as the size of a blizzard/death and decay, etc...? Update: Just checked the ability.slk, answered the question myself. But I noticed there is no cell where you can edit what unit rain of chaos summons. How would I change this? Just modify an infernal in the game? |

Yes, in rain of chaos you specify another spell to cast. This has to be a point-target spell and personally ive never done it without inferno. But anyway if you take a look at this entry... Code:
Pprd ANin Pprd Planeswalker - Planar Rift Damage 1 1 0 hero 1 1 1 ground, structure, debris, enemy, neutral 0 4 4 0 0 150 2000 270 2 0 sgem Pplr ANrc Pplr Planeswalker - Planar Rift 1 1 0 hero 1 1 7 _ 0 0.2 0.2 180 450 400 600 Pprd 20 - - The rain of chaos spell is "Pplr", and in its DataX1 field is an entry for another ability. This ability is the one that will be cast and the unit summoned is specified in the inferno ability you use. Note: This makes a great ultimate you can do some vicious things with it. |
