Guest | I downloaded some of the skins (.blp files) that the author's didn't mind being used from some of the galleries. I noticed that some of these skins were based off of the same model in the game. Here's a question. If I use a skin that is based off of the sorceress model, will that skin replace the original sorceresses skin? Does that mean that I can place the custom model in the game, but not the original sorceress model? I think I'm using model and skin interchangeably. I don't have any actual models. I just downloaded a bunch of skins. If I have two skins that are based off of the sorceress then can both of those skins be in the same game? The name of one .blp file is "sorceress", but she is changed from the original sorcy. Do I need to rename this file and then add it to my map? Will that mean that both the sorceress and a different sorceress model will be availiable to use? Can someone help me? I'm confused. I know how to add .blp files to the game, but how do you add another model? I use TechMPQ. Any help is appreciated. |

I'm not sure about this but you might be able to add another sorceress model and just call it something different. Though I doubt if you could do that. So, you can only have one skin per model. I'm curious.. was it my skin? |

You will need a Hex editor. Copy and paste the sorceress model with as many names as you want, then open it in hex editor and change the BLP value to the one you want it to read. |

Or you just need Yobgul's MDL>MDX converter, and then edit the pathname in text mode. |

What exactly is a hex editor? I don't believe I've ever heard of that. If I download a hex editor and copy and paste the model, then would I also be able to use that same hex editor to change the .blp value for those copied models? Currently, I have been using Tech MPQ to change the .blp values for models. Does this hex editor have that capability too? Also, when I copy and paste these models how do I put them in the World Editor for me to use? I'm guessing that the hex editor is downloadable on this site so I'll go look for it. *** edit **** er, maybe not. I just looked for it and I couldn't find it. Can someone push me a link to download the Hex Editor? Also Yoda, yes I did download some of your models =) They are very good. I wish I could skin like you. |

Death, Get Yobguls File converter from this site, its in a sticky in teh tools forums. Then extract the model that you want to have 2 skins on, and its portrait, using techmpq out of the war3.mpq Then convert both Sorceress.Mdx and Sorceress_Portrait.mdx into .mdl with Yobguls, and open then up in a txt editor. Find the line Textures = "Textures\Soceress.blp" and change it to Textures = 'Textures\Sorceress2.blp" Repeat this for the portrait as well. Then convert these both back into .mdx using yobguls again. Then name the second skin for the Sorceress Sorceress2.blp, and insert it into your map in the textures path, along with the 2 edited .mdx files into the path Units\Human\Sorc2\Sorc.mdx with techmpq. Go into UMSWE and make a unit that uses the filepath Units\Human\Sorc2\Sorc as its model and it will have the new skin on it. |

Guest | Thank you ChoboMapper =) By the way, this may be a stupid question, but is the girl in your avatar the girl from Evinescence (sp?). You know ... the group that has that song "Save me from myself" or "Wake me up" ... whatever it's called. They say both lines a lot in the song. |
