there are millions, you just mistake them all for being the same map because they all look just like dota.

It seems that AoS is the standard "type" of map (just like TD or Hero Siege are types). DotA is an AoS map.

but is it? aos is commonly asociated with:
tri war
evolution
basic hero war
godly heros
no revival
tombs
types, and dota is more:
custom abilitys
weaker heros
revival
no tombs

Dota is an Aos, IMO it stood out from the crowd and became popular because it was the first big battle.net map that had custom spells. Aos is normally just 2 or more sets of units that spawn and fight the other teams units, your hero decieds the game outcome.

There was a map called Aeon of Strife in StarCraft. It was the first Aeon of Strife and it said it was based on Dynasty Warriors 3.

It was a game were you could be on 2 teams. One extra life if you die. Every kill you get a little "special" and minerals. Use your "special" to get special units for a short amount of time. You use the minerals to either upgrade your armor or weapons for any race. You could buy units like Ghosts, Shuttles, Zeloats ect. Then there were some events like ambush and catapults that get set up (Siege tanks).

That's how the first AoS game was like. And it was balanced.

Games that have Tomes or Godly heros at the end, I don't consider true AoS. And DotA seems to be one of them (Though, it's becoming unbalanced it seems...).

Well, that's my 2 cents8)

the only difference in DotA and AoS is that in AoS u got tomes, which not appears to be in DotA at all....

The difference between AoS and DotA is that AoS is a map genre while DotA is simply a map belonging to that genre, Eul stated this himself. What seperates DotA from the rest of the AoS maps at the time of it's initial release, was that it was the first map in it's genre that 'made it big' with utilising custom spells (as previously mentioned). There were one or two maps of similar style that were released at the same time, but they were filled with problems and thusly fell out of the loop.

And yes, while it's true that DotA did not contain any tomes (except for tome of power) there were a few other's that also had an absence of the 'toming plague' and therefore can't be considered part of the original uniqueness that has caused so much confusion. I'm inclined to believe that the mass-popularity of the map also contributed to the misleading idea that DotA was some sort of Map type.

EarthFury,
Did you mean attach it? You can't since that file type is allowed so I look at the maps description and it has a website. I looks there and found the link to the newest version, it's here.

It's a good game *Starts up StarCraft*

Ok, the Insane version is a little (WAY) harder than the first version I played.

Anyway, that is the second AoS map the guy made. He created the first and second I belive.
