Mapmakers: Intros and Cinematics

Introduction sequences:
Most players do not want to see the intro, they want to play the game. In every game I've played, the introduction sequence was skipped. Unless, of course, some player lagged and no one could type "skip" quickly enough.
Skip intros by default and replace it instead with something along the lines of "Type 'show' to show the intro."

Cinematics:
Certainly halt the gameplay before a cut scene starts. Players can't control their units during this time and it is definitely not good to die during a cinematic two hours into the game because you couldn't run away.

I'm the hardheaded, I'll stay with the skip for the intro. Actually I'm using a blizzard type trigger with the 'esc' key. I was actually going to force people to watch the cinematics (since I take so long doing them), but do to popular demand, I added the skip.

The skip is ussualy not to skip a cinematic that you didn't yet see but it's for a cinematic that you had already seen. For example I would be quite pissed off if I had to watch NightElf_mission_3's 20 times (the hardest mission in the game). It's for those who play the map not for the first time.

BTW I use a ESC skip also that skips the cinematic in any moment you want.

About the cinematics that you said I have to tell everyone THERE IS a pause units action which helps in these sittuations alot. You can also hide some unwanted units during a cinematic to not make it look like some units just stand there and look like a bunch of morons waiting until the dialog of some guys ends.

Pause units does not STOP the units from an issued order. They continue doing what they were supposed to when you unpause them.
