recovering terrain?

Is there any way to get the terrain/doodads/units out of a map (don't care about cameras/triggers/regions). I ask this because I have an old RoC rpg that I started whose terrain I'd like to use to make a new rpg with a different concept in TFT. I can't seem to load the map though in either RoCWE or TFTWE because it seems to be corrupt. I stored the map on a CD when I was backing up my harddrive, and now when I try to open it I get many variable errors and in RoCWE it crashes, in TFTWE it lets me see the terrain, but if I look at any triggers, it crashes (but I successfully went through and deleted all of em by deleting the trigger directories they were in. Tried saving then, no luck, still gave errors). Is there any way I can recover it?

EDIT:
I removed all variables, triggers, regions, and cameras in the map and tried saving. I get 210 compile errors. =/ Starting with an Expected "takes", and then mainly a bunch of "Expected a code statement"s.
