Personally, what annoys me with the current warcraft scene is that there are actually very few campaigns availible. RoK. Nature's Call. Saga Of Azeroth. Ner'zhuls Return. WoS. Thats all I can think of. There isn't really much material availible for players. We have fun messing about with our .slks and our skins but, it occurs to me, when do we actually get a product going. So I want to assemble a team of mappers. You need to be able to terrain and you need to be able to do some very basic triggers. Thats it. I don't want to create a campaign with oodle of new complex stuff. I want to assemble a team that will produce a 6 map campaign in 3 short weeks. And it is possible, I am certain of it. |

Guest | Well, I am the leader of two failed projects. Well, one was officially but on hold while the other I'm just too lazy to work on. But if I was part of a team, I'd probably do better. My interest in WCIII is fading fast, but maybe this will renew my interest. I'd like to help, because your idea sounds so simple I love it. I LOVE THIS IDEA. Seriously though, i wonder what the plan is. Contact me via AIM: Mallrodent3 -teh gond |

Terrific! I'm gonna be online every day and am accessable via instant messeges, [email protected] or [email protected]. Feel free to ask me anything... I don't want this to lose steam. I don't particularly want to waste much time coming up with a plot, as this team is gonna be about getting some contnent in the world editor done, but so that we can be happy with the storyline, I've come up with four plot ideas (one for each race). Email or post here with your pick or come up with another one if you really hate them all (thats fine by me). If we could hav one or two more guys, I wouldn't turn you down! HUMAN: Valor's Crusade Tells the story of the Human expedition to Northrend where the Human campaign left off. Stefan Valor is a paladin who takes over from the fallen prince and he spends two maps moving back towards the coast, one discovering the presence of goblins in northrend and one final map defending the gopblins until thier ships are ready (The last map requires TFT... I can do that one if you guys don't have it). 4 playable maps - 1 Intro - 1 interlude - 1 credits = 7 maps (remember the credits will take a few minutes to finish off and the intro and interlude will take about as long to finish as a normal map, if that) ORC: Lord Of The Clans Tells the story of THrall's battles at 2 internement camps before he musters his forces for an epic 3 map siege of Blackmoore's Castle (whatever it's name was, I'll look it up) 5 playable maps - 1 interlude - 1 credits = 7 maps (I don't know why i count the credits...) UNDEAD: The Plague Tells the story of Kel'thuzad's corruption (intro) then his joureny to northrend (1 map) his orders from the lich king (interlude) the his success in spreading the plague to Lordearon. (3 maps) 4 maps + intro +interlude +credits = 7 maps NIGHT ELF: Justice Tells the story of the fallne night elf demon hunter who slays a preistess of the moon, which angers Miranda Moonsong (intro). She then pursues the demon hunter (map one) before being found by the warden hunting the demon hunter as well (interlude They both co-operate through 3 other maps to eventually kill the demon hunter and avenging the potms death. WILL REQUIRE TFT FOR THE WARDEN! 4 maps + intro +interlude + credits = 7 maps. Personally, I feel that each of these campaigns is a realistic goal in three weeks. I know I can cope with at least all the cinematics (intro, interlude, credits) and a map in that time, leaving you with the choice of doing one or two maps if you want. Totally open ended for you. Please let me know - I will contact both of you personally in the next few hours as well. |

Cenarius was wake up after TYrande and Furion wake up him. Then he fight vs the undeaths and Orcs. In the last lvl he dies trough Gromm Hellscream. 5maps one Interlude one Credits. |

Most 'teams' fail mostly because of unrealistic ambitions ('i need 200 new units and 10 heroes. plz make em 4me roflol!!'), poor coordintion and just not enough dedicated people. Campaigns are best made with one person doing the story, scripting and mapwork, with other stuff that is -not- necessary to finish it (i.e. Addons that are not essential such as skins, voicework, music) pulled in from other sources and people. I wrote an article on this a while back. It's easy to come up with ideas, but to press ahead and dedicate time to making them is completely different. |

Ya see the idea of this is to assemble a small team and do something small i.e. no extra units and you each have to do one map. Most large mods also seem to break down after a week or two, so I'll try and get it finished within a week. We're gonna try and get something playable. My vote lies with the human mod, so I think we'll end up doing that unless the wrold objects to it. I'm gonna be writing up a detailed design document to make this even smoother for everybody (see this forum for whoever made the original). Useful article btw magic. |

MAP 1- Me MAP 2- [cl]shadow MAP 3- Thunder-Hunter MAP 4- TheGondorian Interlude, credits etc. - Me You've got 2 weeks. Don't let this stop you signing up btw people - I've still got jobs you can do. PLEASE download this lovingly prepared document explaining each map in painful detail. EDIT: I forgot to add send the maps to me at [email protected] or [email protected] when they're finished. Ok, so when we are working on these maps, what editor do you want me to use? TFT or RoC, becuase all i got right now is RoC.. Oh well here i go to work on the map. |
| 07-02-2003, 05:52 PM | #14 |
Okay you use RoC except for one tiny exception - map 4 requires goblin ships. That is the ONLY place anything from TFT is to be used - no blood elf units or anything. You will probably want to use UMS or something similair though. I suppose you've got it anyway. |

I can do the finnishing triggers on your terrain work. I am one of the better trigger-workers here, of those who do not use JASS. I can do anything possible with GUI editing (Guided user interface). So, do you want me? If so... I just added you ;). I can do maps as well of course, but anyway... |
