I must say I'm a bit disapointed in the response to this post. I usually don't step into things like this but this time I felt compelled to. It is obvious that this individual lacks understanding of some basic skinning concepts and requires some guidance, not flames. I will conceed that it is possible that he isn't serious but maybe he is and I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt.
I have purged the replies to this thread, try again folks.

That is not a skin. TFT has nothing to do with making a skin. See this tutorial. You do not need TFT to make a skin.

thats not even a skin... its a screenshot of an actual blademaster with something drawn over the screenshot. Note the little model of the blademaster to the left side...

KDEWolf: If you'll notice, CitizenSnips mentioned that he unlocked this thread - it's the second post in this topic. And frankly, I agree with him.

Seriously kharma, this is nothing more than a bad joke. He just edited the screenshot with paint brush, that's not a skin, and therefor doesn't go to the gallery. It's just that. No problem if it was a skin, for more crappy that could it be. But it isn't, and I don't know wich kind of positive thing we could have out of this thread.

Ok I will give an example of the kind of post that might be helpful to the original poster assuming he seriously posted this.

"Hello, what you have posted is not technically a skin. A skin is a texture file that is stored separate of a model and is "projected" onto the model when it is rendered. This permits you to see how the texture changes as you view it from other angles. However it is not entirely necessary to fully understand the process when modifying skins. Typically a skinner will take an existing skin file and use the original skin as a reference to determine where to paint the new skin elements. This image is then placed into a map file using an mpq editing program with the same path that is expected by the model. There are a number of posts and tutorials on how this is done throughout the forum, I would suggest searching around for them.

Now once you learn the technical processes for creating a skin you will need to work on your skinning technique by learning to paint detail and shading. There are quite a few tutorials on this topic out there and I will post some links in this post. You will also need a proper painting program because mspaint has very few features. I would suggest a trial version of something such as photoshop, paintshop pro or perhaps downloading GIMP which is free (www.gimp.org).

This is a website with many good skinning tutorials:

Here are a few specific tutorials from this site i would recommend

I hope some of this information is helpful to you and if you have any questions feel free to ask after making a reasonable effort to search the forum and google incase someone has already answered your question"

Now that's not terribly hard to write something like this is it? If you don't feel like writing a helpful reply then don't, you are not obligated to reply to his post.

Now lets take a look at two possible scenarios
1) The original poster is seriously posting this skin: this user very much needs our help to understand what a skin is and some guidance on how to get started. I would expect a mature and helpful reply to this persons post.

2)The original poster is trolling: the user wants you to flame him, you are falling into his trap and doing precisely what he intended you to do and you are contributing to forum clutter and making it a more hostile environment. In this instance a community member should do one of three things either not reply, report the post or reply as if the poster was entirely serious. If you don't feed a troll with flames he may give up and leave.

Am I making sense now?
