So where exactly does the TFT WE store it's 'custom' files at?

Like slks and txt and all that other stuff us spell editors used to have to extract from the mpq... Is it in the map itself now? And if so what's the new file extension called?


Basicly since the old method is obsolete, BUT There's still things you need to do by txt editing (Bxxx entries, buff art, etc) I want to know how I can get to those files that the WE is changing with it's 'spell editor' so I can do what I gotta do...

Yes, trying to do the same thing. A spell screwed up my map and now I can't do anything with abilities cause if I click the abilities tab, it gives me an error so I need to find a way to delete the skill. Haven't had any luck yet...

The discussion in there whoule help you get the files you want. They are still where they have always been - in war3.mpq (uses 1.06 SLK format) and war3patch.mpq (uses 1.10 format SLK plus missing listfile in the MPQ makes it harder to extract files)

Follow the info I and others posted in the thread above and you will be able to grab the files. Then refer to this thread for any updates on what you need to update to make your custom abilities compatible with 1.10. http://www.wc3campaigns.com/forums/s...threadid=20552

Kuhal, I don't know if Ultra is having the same problem as me, but I think he is. The problem isn't finding old skills, but finding where the TFT WE abilities tab or any of the tabs for that fact are storing the custom units made within the WE itself. I think what you are referring to is if you had created spells before and you need to bring them up to date with the new patch. From what I can tell, if you use the TFT WE and create an ability, the ability is stored within the map file itself. The problem that we are having is that there doesn't seem to be a way to access these custom abilities that we have created as they don't get added to the .slk. The .slk seems to keep track of abilities that you can have for all your maps. By creating them within the program, if you want to reuse them, you have to export and import them, at least that is what I can tell ATM. I have yet to find a way to access these abilities outside of the TFT WE. Any help would be appreciated.

I see my mistake now.. We won't see TFT here in New Zealand for a few more days so I suppose I can't help at all until then. But I figure someone will have answered by then - perhaps this bump will help :)
