How to make some parts of the skin invisible?

Sorry this may have been asked for many times but I don't find any threads or this...

The question is the one above: How to make some parts of the skin invisible?

I know I have to do this with alpha channels but all I found on this section was about team colors *lol*

So can you please respond so that I can remove this silly backback from my Kobold warrior skin!

And I use Paintshop Pro 7 (I don't have Photoshop)

lol i found it. I did everything like it was descripted in the thread. When I used alpha on the the skin everything worked as I wanted but when putting it in the we the backpack became red, or blue or green depending on what team color i chose for the unit.
And another thing: When I had used the mask and saved the areas of the mask kept grey and ingame the teamcolors lighten a bit. How can I change that back. I just want that the normal skin is show again.

All in all I want the backpack removed completely and I don't know who's to do.:(

Some parts of the model use the alpha channel as teamcolor instead of transparency, there's nothing that you can do on a skin to alpha it out. Besides, you don't want a big hole in the back of your Kobold's back.

lol if this doesn't work I'll have to remove the backpack with modeling.

I can tell you right now, if you don't want a backpack, you'll have to reskin it or remove it.

Well ok but I don't know how to do it. The normal team colors are grey - I figured that out now. Total black removes the skin so that you can't see it - I know this now, too. Normal white shows the skin.

When I made the backpack "black" it didn't appeared as invisible ingame - it became red as I've said. Lol and that is my problem: I don't know now what I can do when the black has the same functions as grey:(

Is it possible to remove the team colors completly so that you can make the rest of the backback invisible? I think the problem is that there still excists teamcolor and I'm not able to remove it.

Is there a way to remove it completly or not? That would be the answer of my problem.

I'm getting the same problem. With my old warden skin(from WC3 not TFT) I want to get rid of that stupid *** thing on her back. I alpha'ed it out, but the portion where team color was used stayed team color, and the rest went white. emote_sweat
I am willing to learn some basic moddeling skills if I have to, to just remove it entirely, but I'd rather not have to spend time doing that.. not yet anyway. I also don't want to have to remove all the team color from the game just to get it off this one skin.

So, if there is ANY way to do this just by skinning or editing files in the MPQ or something PLEASE let us know. Actually, if there's a way to edit the model itself to edit where team color is used that would help too.
And yeah I did read as many Tutorials as I could find on the subject but none of them touched on this problem.

thx.

I was wondering how do you do it with photoshop

YOU CAN'T

To remove the team color, convert it to a mdl using YobGul's converter, and change the Material ID on the teamcolor part to the same one as the non teamcolor part.

Or just remove one of the layer (team color) from the material.

@ KDEWolf: Thank you for offering your help in this. I'll first try to do it alone in the model as mdl and if I fail I would like you to send the skin so that you can remove it.
