Ok, Ive read just about every little bit of info around here.. and I've managed to get as far as extracting war3.mpq and finding the .mdx location of a specifc tree. My problem though is when I replace the model text with that text, it says MDL not found.. I was told to find the MDX file to get its location.

So now when I filter MDL, none are found in war3mpq..

I'm totally 100% lost. All I want is some small tree's.. lol

If someone could help me here i'd be eternally greatful!

***Edit: Ok, I've learned that MDX works in UMSWE, and it does.. well, it seems like it does for everything but tree doodads! Is there any special way to get that to work?

find the units/doodadunits.txt or units/doodads.txt... something like that, may give the blp which u plug in...

also... why not use treant?

Ok, well, I managed to get the trees working with models, but they are completly white =(

.. and i'm not using treants because i'm trying to get the look of a real doodad tree.

Man, I love running onto brick walls!

most doodad models cant be units. Its the way the model is made.

Doh! Then how the hell do people get such small tree's in their maps?

This is true, but then their colission size is still the same size, meaning they are very spread out.. the only way to get em closer is the ctrl-numpad movment.. but that is ULTRA tedious.. any other way?

I dunno why im bothering to post here. But the reason your tree model isnt working properly with the skin is simple. the skin is based on the tileset. Such as Blight changing the skin on trees. If you want to use a tree model as a unit you need to extract the model. convert it to mdl, add in a new path to the tree skin and save. Then convert the mdl back to mdx. Attach the new tree model to your map and your good to go.

yes you can now change the collison in the object editor, I believe, if not, it will hopefully be there for UMSWE v4.0
