Guest | I'm looking forward to playing some single player maps and campaigns, but the "maps" I've played... well... I thought the one I was working on was bad.. heh. Anyways, I was just wondering where the single player campaigns and maps were. And I don't see why single multiplayer maps are considered "Campaigns". Um, a campaign is more than one map. If anything I'd call them multiplayer RPGs. OK, I'm done. |

I don't think anyone calls a single multiplayer map a campaign. A multiplayer or single player map where you control a single Hero is called an "RPG Map." A series of single player maps is called a campaign. |

The reason you don't see any singleplayer maps around (hardly any) is that they take ALOT more time to make then your standered run of the mill multiplayer map. Consider this, for a SP map you have to create a story line, then you must make terrain according so that it fits the plot of your map, next you must create the computer opponents, which is not an easy task, all the attacks must be timed properly and building of buildings as well, if they are to fit into the plot of your map. We here at wc3 campaigns start beta testing of our campaign "Rise of Krill" tomarow. This project took countless hours, from dozens of human minds scattered across this great globe. People had to make sounds, skins, the tools to actually edit this game, people had to make maps, make the plot, make sure everything is flowing in the right direction, we also had to figure out just how to make this singleplayer campaign fit into the war3 main menu. There are countless other details that had to be worked out to put something of this scale into production.... This game is also virgin soil, people have to get acustomed to workin with the ins and outs of the engine. So my advice is be patient and you will see many hours of extra entertaiment provided to you by non other than people exactly like yourself, fans. |

Guest | If u want single player i made a single player map that is going to be a campaign soon. So far i have the tutorial and Part 1 done. Its called "Aftermath of the Legion" and its in the retail maps section. =) Oh btw stonedstoopid is right, single player maps are incredibly hard to make and take alot of time ;) |

Guest | Yes, there's a lot of single player campaigns in process...such as mine. However, it does take a long long time to make them. I've spent many hours developing ideas, thinking of the story, and compiling ideas to keep the campaign interesting as it progresses. I guarentee that there will be some great single player campaigns out there, just be patient :) |

Campaigns require a storyline, wich many ppl consider to be easy to be done. Well, the fact is it is damm hard to create/develop a good storyline and them implement it on the maps. Also, good maps require plenty of time and the effort of many ppl together. Stand by a little, and wait for wc3camp rise of krill. |

Guest | Yes, I meant lots of time putting stories into map form :) Plus the maps have to be BUG FREE since they're not mplayer and therefore is hard to redistribute. Lots of testing and perfecting involved :) |

The fact that you can't do AI scripts is tripping up a lot of people right now. Like me. Oh, sure, you can use triggers, but that's very... rudimentary. And people have already said the answers... it takes a lot of time to a single single-player map, let alone a campaign. Some people are releasing their campaigns map by map, though. If you want to see a couple that are being done that way, you can check out "The Wanderers of Sorceria" at http://www.campaigncreations.com or "The Watchers" at http://www.eracreations.com (doesn't work at the moment, though.) |

Guest | Yes, Wanderers of Sorcia is a single player campaign thats releasing map by map. I would be willing to release mine map by map but my maps will never be fully complete until the whole campaign is complete do to possible changes. However, if someone would like to see it I could send it to them as I progress, sort of as if you were a beta tester. |

Guest | Yeah, I know they take a long time. I guess I was just wondering if I was looking in the wrong place. I'll check out those websites and the retail section. And I should know the answer to this, but I was also wondering if there are going to be campaigns that like "mod" Warcraft III, that would require an "install" to play and "uninstall" to play regular Warcraft III. That'd be something I'd do to play a really cool campaign with customizations that aren't able to be done any other way. (Unit sounds... grr) So I can't wait to play! Perhaps I'll throw on what I'm working on when I'm done, heh... |

after 10 minutes build 3 grunts, 2 spear chuckers and a shaman and attack player 1! (using triggers) I will have to prebuild their entire settlement fit in triggers to replace any units/buildings that might get destroyed... resourses allowing, etc? what a pain in the ar$e. Ahh well if ya wanna make one you have to do it. until someone figured out how to create a campaign map.ai and can explain it to us simple folk! hehe Thanks.. have to go work on my map again and see how things transpire..... mental note: need to get asprin on the way home from work for the map! |

There's probably a pretty good method using complex variables to make AI scripts using triggers, but I'm not good enough (or I don't have the patience) to do that. It would make a neat tutorial though. (hint, hint) |
