I think I got my hopes up that I'd never have to touch an mpq editor again since TFT added an import module to the WE. *sigh* When I import an mdx file into a map through the frozen throne import module and then assign it to be a unit's model, I get missing MDL errors. I tried adding the MDX files to the same path through an MPQ editor and it worked perfectly. TFT WE just doesn't seem to actually import the mdx file even though it thinks that it has. Anyone else having this problem? I also noticed that the paths show up as MDL once the MDX is imported. Part of the problem, perhaps? |

remember when u import u have to import it into the right directory. ex. when i was newbie to modelling, i imported a model like this: File to add: C:\.....\warcraft III\Units\mymodel.mdx MPQ: C:\.....\warcraft III\Maps\mymap.w3m Filename in the MPQ: Mymodel.mdx <---this is wrong, it have to be Units\Mymodel.mdx i guess u understand now? |

Yep, I'm aware that the path has to be correct. The files don't seem to be read properly under the default path (War3Imported) or if I edit them to any other path. Again, importing the same model to the same path through an mpq editor seems to work properly. |

its really faster and better than mpq importer, and it work if u have the right path |

Allow me to reiterate, I have the paths correct. I know this. I have double checked this by importing the files using an MPQ editor to the same paths. The trouble is that the FT WE doesn't actually seem to be importing the mdx file. It thinks that it is, but the imported file is useless and assigning a unit to use that path as the model results in the dreaded green cube. I'm not a bloody idiot, it's hard to get the paths wrong in FT WE given that it has pull-down menus for them. I thank you for your help, but please read what I'm writing before you reply. |

I had the same pb as you but in game the model worked. I did then reload the map in the editor and the model was there. |

ok this is like a tutorial -open TFT WE -import the file you want -change path to Units\yourmodel.mdx(see picture) -open unit editor -change the model to the model you just imported(see picture) |

TFT WE won't read the model from the imported file, it will look for it from the War3 base directory, like C:\Warcraft III\Units\Orc\HeroPeon\HeroPeon.mdx Make sure your file exists in the same directory as the one you import it to. There's no reason why wc3imported wouldn't work, all you need to do is make a folder of the same name. |

ya, i did it just like mad shows, and it didnt show in the World editor, but it did show in the actual game (which i think is more important). |

Mad, I don't care what you say, it still isn't working. I did just what you said and get a green checkered box. |

The object editor, that little ****er, keeps changing the model name I give it, say, units\dick\dick.mdx to units\dick\dick.mdl. It keeps changing the MDX to MDL, and I don't know what to do with it then. What should I do? |

We posted the same way, I just accounted for lazyness. It will work, but your way is more ogranized and professional. I just wanted to point out that you can do it without changing the path. It's supposed to be .mdl, that's the combination of the mdx and the blps. You still imported the mdx |

Great! Thanks Krakou and MSP, that was what I was looking for. |

ok, the WE and wc3 always read the mdl file. That doesnt matter, it only convert your mdx to mdl. The problem i think is: the path is maybe wrong, check ur mdx name for sure, or maybe there is something wrong with your model(read the tutorials) and check if the skin is on right size and have an alfa map And slowpoke, sorry for what i said, i didnt understand what u mean. So you mean that: one can make the directory war3importer\ in the warcraft III\ directory?. so it will looks like this: c:\......\warcraft III\war3importer\ |
