Fortress Wars 1.2 *Major Patch*

Since it has so many changes, I'm not sure how the gameplay has evolved. Im pretty sure (from what Ive tested) that its better than before, but please try it out and see if it got better, or is now the worst map ever :bgrun:

On a side note, people complain the the meteor rain destroys their towers. Ive played many games, and people always clutter
up their towers into groups of 9-10. This is way too effective in all tower games, and its the precise reason why global
attacks were added. Try splitting up your towers into smaller groups.

Bug Fixes

- Player 4 Human invasions no longer create a double invasion force
- Player 4 Elf invasions now work
- Invasions can no longer be launched on players that have been eliminated
- A player that has been defeated will no longer receive income
- Emergency repair now properly carries over to better observatories if you do not use it early on
- Towers will no longer attack your defenses building during a repression
- Owls will no longer get stuck when a gate is destroyed
- When a player is defeated, all summoned units in his area are now removed
- Saboteurs no longer get dispatched to players that have been defeated
- Fortress snipers can no longer be killed
- Units no longer get stuck in player 2 spawn point 2

New features

- Added Peacekeeper Profile. It grants you immunity to invasions

Changes

- Gold cost system improved. Level 1 summons cost 0-500 gold, level 2 500-2000,level 3 2000 - 5000, level 4 7000-2000. Health has been adjusted accordingly
- Income system has been improved. Level 1 summons give you 2-50 income, level 2 50-120, level 3 120-250, level 4 250-500
- Level 2, 3, 4 summons now cost respectively 2500, 7500, 15000 up from 2000, 3000, 4000
- Level 2, 3, 4 defenses now cost repectively 2000,5000, 10000 up from 1500, 2000, 3500
- Towers have been rebalanced. Most gold costs have been increased to compensate with higher incomes and increased unit costs
- All towers now regenerate only 1 health a second
- Global Attacks now cost 2000 gold to choose, up from 400, to decrease global attack rushing, and compensate for more expensive towers
- Global Attacks are now created in 75 seconds, down from 150
- All creeps have roughly 10% increased attack speed. To compensate, the Observatory gained an additional 1 armor
- Heroes do not have increased damage. Crusader's attack speed has been toned down a little
- Illidan now has level 2 evasion instead of level 3
- Health of gates has been double to prevent newer players from being eliminated in the first minute of the game
- Greed profile now gives +4 income at level 1, down from +5. Higher levels remain unchanged
- Greed now increases income every 45 seconds instead of every minute, to compensate for the higher income and gold costs
- Constitution now increases the health of buildings by 15%, up from 10%
- Marksmanship now increases the range by 260, up from 250
- Masonry profile now also grants you level 1 attack upgrades for free
- Fortress Snipers now have 10, 70, 220 damage depending on the level, up from 6, 60, 200
- Pacify now stops invasions for 50 seconds, up from 40
- Saboteurs now have 700 health, up from 500
- Earthquake now lasts 20 seconds, down from 25, and does a total of 190 damage, down from 250
- Repression now lasts 30 seconds, up from 25
- Air units now properly have light armor, to increase the use of anti air towers over guard towers
- Observatory of Doom now has 6000 health, up from 4500, and costs 4500 gold, up from 3500

Okay, I will give this a try. If you have failed... I will have to kill you, nice to see that you followed my advice anyway.

Now add the next player and tweak it to work good.
I want to play it with my friend ;).
Will make another post when I've played it, in an hour or so.

I was playing 1.1 with my buddies yesterday, and one problem ive seen is that you can meteor rain the other person's global attack building. This can be severely crippling, as that means first person to get it keeps it away from the other (any word on a fix?). Also, I noticed player 4 could fit a tower on the observatory cliff; not sure if this was intended.

Anyways, great job on your map! I look forward to playing this version later today.

Version 1.1 was pretty bugged. Killing the other player's global attack building hasnt been changed, I didnt know, but with the cost of 2000 gold its not a race anymore.

I noticed the tower next to the observatory too, i think player 3 can do it as well. I forgot to change it.

I cant tell really. The monster / income system is pretty slick, in the tests I ran its a lot better than before. Tower costs might still have to be tweaked, I didnt get to tier 4 yet.

Hey man, great new version! :D

I've found a few new issues (Intentional Features?). But you can Meteor Strike the observatory and destroy it. You can only survive it at level 3 observatory or greater too :nono:. Maybe at level 2 with emergency repair and the fortification bonus.

Also, I've noticed the effectivity of saboteurs drastically drops in the late game - they just cant survive long enough. Maybe allow blink or evasion at higher levels?

I'm also unsure if it was by design, but death towers can be built anywhere, even inside the observatory or on paths. This allows for some cheesy walling.

Personally, I think the area of effect on the Meteor Rain should be reduced, but maybe thats just me. Also, I didn't look very hard, but any way to up your invasion strength? (Any chance for undead and orc invasions?). Finally, it seems a bit too easy to put your income through the roof via massing seals, wolves and owls.

Anyways, keep up the good work! I'll be there for the next version. :gsmile:

Wow very cool map man, I hosted it 10 times in a row cause i was determined to win cause i lost the first 9 times :nono: i suck

Oh the death tower building everywhere is nasty.. monsters dont have collision so you cant block them off, but yeah that sux =)
Same thing goes for flame towers btw..

Meteor rain on observatory is hard to change. I cant give them spell immunity, due to the heroes. I might up the health of a level 2 observatorty or reduce the meteor damage.

Saboteurs already got 200 health extra because they were fragile. Ill consider giving them more abilities.

On a sidenote, I dont know if its possible to save replays in UMS, but if it is and you find an imbalance, please save it and send it to me emote_sweat

That wasn't fun!

Anyway, I didn't notice any bugs, which I guess is a good thing.
I need to play-test it again today or tomorrow since I forgot to tell you what I though, lol...

Yeah I know. New peoplem still manage to die the first couple of minute, hanging on 40 income when you have over 2000, then state "how to play?" or "omg this game sux"

i just hosted a lot of dl and leave sessions and told them to host their own games, i am spreading tha map. :D

Btw, try out Battlecruiser Command, its a VERY good map too :D

Ill try battlecruiser. Do have it from a DL only game but havent played it yet.

On the team version of this map, Ive been thinking for a long time of how to implement it, and I still have no idea how to do this without pushing the filesize by 50 kb, so have patience emote_confused
