This is my first RPG for Warcraft III. I posted a beta version of the first map a while back but I can't find the old thread. Now the first map is finished so I decided to give it another shot. It may still contain bugs or glitches but everything's fine as far as I know. :Heh: I've included some screenshots in a zip file (cause I don't know how to make them show here) below in case you may be worried about trying it out. I urge anyone to give it a go and then tell me what they think. I need feedback or else I can't improve the campaign. UPDATE: The Screenshots can now be seen further down the page thanks to KiNg_NeRuB, although you can download them if you really want. |

Now for the level itself (linked below). The mission has been improved since it's last release and a couple of new areas have been added. I have also fixed all the bugs I could find, but beta testing your own map is quite tricky. Below is a list of what to expect in the finished version, among other things. THE FULL VERSION WILL INCLUDE: - Unique heroes complete with custom abilities and spells - Completely new items including set items that rise in power depending on how many pieces of the set you have - New mini-games that can be played to win money and rare items - Vehicles such as boats and tanks and a powerful airship - 2 New custom races including the Blademaidens and an unknown powerful ancient order (Skirmish maps soon!) - Sub-Abilities that grant Raven (the main character) with passive skills that allow access to secret events and characters/items - Branching storylines that can be influenced by the player You make the choices! To Newbmodder: That's a good question, but 'Blademaiden' isn't literal. They don't have to use blades, as you have seen in Raven's case. And it's an RPG, although there isn't many RPG elements in this first level. You can still talk to people though. I can't tell you about the second custom race yet, as they are still being finalised, but I can safely say there are no Treants there. UPDATE: The newest version of this level can be found near the bottom of page two. |

Heres the screens in the .zip file. (for you lazy peeps) -Very nice terrain -Looks like some great triggers in there -Good ideas, very unique -As for the "Blademaiden" I would change the name to a more appropiate "look". Like maybe "Rougemaiden" or "Bowmaiden". Good luck, and dont stop |

Thanks for that, KiNg_NeRuB. I was lost when it came to attaching the screenshots. I will definately take the name under consideration (Although I'm very attached to it). The second level is underway at the moment and should be finished in a couple of days. BTW, Is it possible to transfer gold and lumber onto the next level via a trigger. I've taken a look at the cache triggers but I couldn't see anything that might work. |

Just one problem, you gave Raven a horrible spell selection. Not only are those spells unable to work together, but more importantly they are all more or less passive. All heroes need at least one non passive skill, and it draws from the interest of playing her if you get in combat. |

Yeah, I was a little concerned about Raven's spell selection as well. I was thinking critical strike as she is an archer, so one passive skill is enough. Searing Arrows goes well, but is also passive (In a way). Charm was put there for no specific purpose. I'll definately change her skills around. Mel'Kor sends you to find the key in the library, but I guess you found it since you have all five archaeologists. Thanks for playing the level anyway guys! |

Your map lacks all naturalness to its people. Raven shouldn't meet the paladin and not even be wary at all, and be fine with all the archaelogists coming there. The stormweaver as well needs something as it makes no sense why hes there, or why your both so friendly. When you are coming near the portal room you should have the warden running in from the other side, and saying something like "So thats where you are, look at this" then lead to portal room, instead of seemingly magically there as a clear plotpoint. Things like the key in the crate are pointless too, A: Too close and easy to find. B: Makes no sense at all. Put it on a creep or something. Also have a way to skip cinematics, first time I was playing power went out and I had to go through the cinematics again. Not that big a deal of you change this map since it seems like this is just your teaser, but make note of things like this. Making characters seem somewhat like they are realistic instead of talking plot points to get you to do another objective. |

That is exactly the kind of feedback I need. I will make sure to take in everything you have outlined, Alexian. I can see your point on most of the issues, however I don't understand why Raven should not meet the Paladin. Originally I was against it as Blademaidens are people of stealth and shadow and as such refrain from outside contact. If this is what you mean then I will sort something out. Thanks. |

Its not that theres a problem meeting the paladin but there was no act of suprise in it. The paladin didn't seem suprised that their was someone else wandering around the dungeon, or that she was an assasin. He was just like Oh look a person, you must be here to help me, do this for me and bring back those people. Characters should have a sort of tension when they first meet, you never trust someone you would meet in a creepy dungeon when your missing people. |

Okay: - Mikhail and Raven now have completely new dialogue. They are now far more reserved toward each other. - Kantaris now approaches from the opposite side of the Portal room entrance with a quick 'follow me' type message. - The prison key spawns on a creep now, however he is pretty much in the same place as the barrel that previously housed the key. If this is still a problem (I.e. too easy to locate), I will change it. I have also added more enemies to compliment Raven's new abilities. I am currently morking on Mel'Kor's dialogue, but I'm not sure how to do the whole 'skip-cinematic' thing. I have a little idea, but it's probably a dead end... |
