Deathwing and I have been working on this project for a while. Our forums are at warcraft 3 Mod Foge, but due to the censoring, we can't point you directly to it. So if you're interested, go to:

www.wc3.mod.forge.com/forum (without the periods)

and under hosted projects, look for Divine Fire. Please give us some feedback, either at Mod Forge or here in this thread. If you're going to reply here, state what thread you're talking about please. Also give any suggestions.

We've been held up because I haven't installed FT yet. I need to finish my summer homework first, so we don't have trailers or anything for you. Sorry. All we have is some storyline and some screenshots.

Thanks for your time.

Stupid censoring. Um... has anyone tried to check it out? I just fixed the censoring thingy so you can see where it is. Didn't notice it until now. Sorry. But please check it out. We need some feedback.

Nice.:D The storyline sounds really cool and the terrain looks sweet. The only thing that may not be the best is actual cinematics part b/c i am not sure how good you guys at cinematics so ill just wait and see.

Thanks zurg. You wanna help deathwing trigger this :D?

Is anyone else checking it out? or are you guys being lazy :ggani: and saying "oh no! I can't go directly to the site!! So much effort!!" lol. Please visit and tell me what you think.

the long string of images on the first post are all beautiful red X's, even though you know I'm registered and logged onto this site, lol. I didn't try re-logging in, cuz I'm not sure if they've fixed the regular log-in page yet, but I'm signed up both here and there (what did they do to gain skull's hatred anyway? now skull's just a laughingstock there...)

But the later posts in which you manually attatch are all great!

Glad you like the x's. Took a lotta time and effort lol.

On a serious note though, sorry about that. I forgot. There is a thread somewhere on these forums where you can see the screenshots...

Here, in this thread

I'll fix up our forums now. Thanks for feedback. Oh and reply there too since you've registered. Shows the admin we have progress and feedback.

Alright, well the first bunch of screenshots are very nice. I don't really know what to say about them other than that they're great. The only one I really have any qualms with is the screenshot of the barracks. It's by no means bad, I'm just nitpicky, I guess. The barracks I think should be higher out of the trees (the fact that it's made out of stone just makes it seem like it should be more impressive... I guess).

Anyway, the only thing I can really think of to make it better would be to add some stables or some places where a few horses are tethered. Maybe a couple weapon racks (that I'm not so sure about, though), and some guards (or guard towers...) It'd give it a more warlike feel, I think.

Anyway, that's that.

As for the newcastle02 screenshot, I like it, for the most part. The trees are a little screwy-looking but that could just be the screenshot or simply the way they are... or even my computer. At any rate, to me it looks like there are huge holes in them, and it's slightly offputting. The only other thing I'd say about this picture is to add a little decoration to the paths. They could be meant to be that way but usually (I think) the paths around a decorative square like that are similarly decorative, if not quite so much.

I like the angle in newcastle03, but I don't think it seems suitably magical. It seems rather plain for a meeting place of what I gather to be a rather grand and important council. I don't think it would take much (it looks good, don't get me wrong) but maybe a few magical lamps here and there along with some columns (along the entrance bridge if it's at all possible) would do it some good (or maybe not, I could just be insane). It might be good to have some rays of light (be it sun or moon) shining down on the spot where Arthas/Felix is standing.

From this angle in 04, it looks like a few statues (or obelisks) might be in order flanking the throne to make it more grand and imposing. A few banners hanging from the places where the columns meet might not look bad, or some obelisks in front of the columns closest to you in newcastle04 (although from that angle I can't really be sure how it would look--it might be hideous :p). Again, I think magical lamps are also in order. A few Power Generators (Dalaran Tileset) also achieve much the same look.

I take back what I said about the obelisks after looking at this last screeny. I don't think they'd fit in in front of the near columns, although I still think some things flanking the throne (though slightly behind it) would be good. Maybe some columns where the bridge meets the council chamber. I can't really see anything else that might be added (maybe some things in the water although I couldn't for the life of me tell you what you should add--maybe some environmental stuff).

Now, about the rock cavern... You probably have your reasons but couldn't you just have easily used the "Underground Dome" doodad, which creates pretty much the same effect with much less effort. Anyway, that's just me.

All these screenies are beautiful. Keep up the good work. :D

Thanks for the reply. The barracks I didn't want to make TOO big, or it would have seemed more important than the town hall, which is in another screenshot somewhere. I'm gonna be remaking all the maps once I install FT.

The trees do have big holes in them because of my screen resolution. For some reason, you can see the terrain through the parts of the doodad model that have been alphaed out. I took those screenshots in 1024x768. I should have taken them in 1280x1024, because it looks normal that way, but I didn't find that out until 3 weeks ago, which was the last time I played or edited a game.

About the magical thing. The world I'm creating doesn't have magic. The Gods are the only beings with "magical powers". I'm writing the story this way because most of the other cinematics around here are based around magic. I want to step away from what others have done and create something new and original. Also, without magic, it will be much more suspenceful in the sense that you don't know how someone is going to get out of a battle alive or how they are going to get to some pillar of rock in the middle of nowhere. That's not going to be in the story of course, but I'm just giving examples.

What underground dome? Sorry I haven't installed FT yet, and I suppose that it's a new doodad. GAH!! NEED TO FINISH SUMMER HOMEWORK!!

Yeah I was serious. We posted a request in Mod Forge news for another cinematic guy. No one yet.

Zurg you seem like an accomplished story writer. Wanna give critiques/suggestions about my characters?

I'd be willing to help you out with the cinematic aspect, if you want me. This'd be my first major cinematic, and I don't know if you want someone with more experience or not.

Anyway, sorry about the magic lantern thing. I guess I just got so used to having super powerful wizards running around everywhere that I assumed yours was going to have them too. Sorry about that. And at least that tree thing's not gonna be in the game (would've driven me nuts...). Anyway, it looks very nice, and now that I understand your reasons for doing things the way you have them done it looks all the better.

EDIT: As for the characters...

I have a few questions (and comments, I suppose) about them... Is the Council only composed of the five wise people, or are they just the main part of it? I'm wondering because you said that the Sage manipulated by the book was a low-class Sage trying to gain power over his superiors. If the Council really is just those five then he wouldn't have any superiors (would he?). If the Council is more than just those five and they are just the main face of it, than this question is worthless. :p

As for Felix, is he one of those noble good natured mercenaries (this seems an unlikely combination, but it has come up in enough pieces of literature to have become accepted, I suppose), or is he all about the money (like I imagine most mercenaries are?)? Either way, he still sounds cool. I would ask what this mercenary is doing involved with the High Council of the entire land but you probably have that all worked out in the storyline (and probably don't want to reveal it) so I'll let that go...

So the two Gods manipulate things from behind the scenes, each trying to stop the other from succeeding (or rather the Guardian tries to stop Ephemeris from destroying the World while encouraging it's change). Sounds fun to me. I take it they're gonna have some widespread effects, otherwise the Council wouldn't really have too much to do with the story (so far as I can figure). I'm lookin forward to it...

Keep us posted...

Well when I mean accomplished I mean that it's very original. There's no cliche elements in it like big battles, RUNNING a lot lol; it's all new stuff.

I c.
Ok, well i took a look at the characters you have listed and from what i read i think they should have a (hmm, how should i put this) better connection with each other. What i mean is how do the council members or Felix have to do with the story or how are the connected to the main character or his antagonist. If i knew allittle more of the story i am sure that they do have those connections but if they are just merely ppl who dont enhance the plot or other characters they shouldnt b part of the story. You probably just dont say their connections in the character description but if not consider the advise. With that said i think that Typhidus the Sage should b reconsidered as a character. It would make the story allitte too complex if his envy of his superiors was played up too much. Yet again this may be a case where i do not have enough information about hte plot to give better crit. One last thing: when you have a list of characters you should think about more than just what they do or their place in the story. If you havent already done this think about the way they act, their attitude, the way they look, and how they enhance the story.
heh, i sound like an english teacher.emote_sweatthats just some advise take it or leave it. :D
