Edit: Please read my last message i have sent (and the EDIT i have made... it looks just like this EDIT End Edit Edit 2: Can someone please delete this thread, i dont need it anymore (and i dont think neone else does) End Edit 2 Ok... to me at the moment... skinning seems like an impossibility. Now ive read tutos and problems everyone else seem to have YET i still cant grasp how its done... makes me sound stupid huh... WELL so far, i can edit targa images PERFECTLY... just cant put them into a warcraft 3 map... maybe because im using WinMPQ i dont know. But i just cant get ANY of em into a map... well i can put it into the map... just cant see them in game or the editor. Maybe im doing something wrong. heres what i do... Open "WC3 IE II" (image extractor II)... Take out the file i want (by saving the image)... Open it in a photo editor of some sort (im using coral draw, cant be bothered with the trial version of photoshop)... Edit the image (making sure i dont go outta the line, lol, j/k)... Save the image as a targa (".tga")... Open the image in "WC3 IE II" and change it to ".blp"... Place it into the WC3 map (by opening the map with WinMPQ and placing the ".blp" file into the map)... Thats what im doing. Now i know for a fact EVERYTHING, except the importing of the ".blp" file into the map is correct. But what i understood from all the tutos is that u basically put the file into the map... PLEASE HELP ME ON THIS... its getting really irritating not having my skin put into a map. -Thanks in advance -Haz (aka Emeinem) PS... Will the map still have the skins when you play the map online, or will it only show up on my PC the skin i made and everyone else will see the default image (the one made by blizzard)? |

if you have tft, use the import manager and change the path the import manager makes for it to the path of the original skin. Then it will work. |

Dont test your skin via test map or save your map. If you save your map the skin will be erased. Remember to import the final skin when your map is complete. To view your skin in game, save your map, import, then open TFT and play your map under custom maps. |

Ah... well i dont have TFT yet... so that doesnt really help me. But its good to know that blizzard is hearing us out there, ppl been asking them to release an editor of some sort to create skins from scratch (like making a skin without the use of photoshop or "WC3 EI II" or any of those)... but at least they made it a bit easier to add files in TFT... Thanks for that, that'll be useful when i get TFT, but at the moment that doesnt help me. -Haz (aka Emeinem) |

I know that... the war editor (when saving or test maping) it deletes EVERYTHING found in the map file and recreates all the files back into the .w3m file. But only puts the files that are created using the WE and not files that were imported to the map. I think the reason they wont work is cos i didnt dl MPQ2k and use that instead of WinMPQ... im gonna dl it then try again... i'll let ya know what happens... but in the mean time try and tell me what im doing wrong (read the first message i sent). Edit: Ok... ive downloaded MPQ2k... and it seems to open ms dos promt and then shows a few words and disapears b4 u can read it... can someone PLEASE tell me wots going on here? Is that how the program works? End Edit |
